The National Football League is back and will kick off with Thursday Night Football. The Kansas City Chiefs are set to play host to the Detroit Lions.
The Kansas City Chiefs will be raising the banner on the Super Bowl title from a season ago and ready to show the football world they are back for more in 2023.
The Detroit Lions are among the upstart teams many have picked to be a pleasant surprise in the league. It will be a great game, but more importantly, it will kick off the season following a long preseason. The Kansas City Chiefs are -5 at home over the Detroit Lions, totaling 53.5.
Let’s take a look at the rest of the National Football League slate for Week 1.
Houston Texans +10 at Baltimore Ravens; 43.5
CJ Stroud will get the nod as the starting quarterback for Houston here. Baltimore seems locked and loaded and ready to compete at the top of the AFC North. Many will be picking Baltimore in survivor-type leagues.
Carolina Panthers +3.5 at Atlanta Falcons; 39.5
A pair of teams that won 7 games last season. A couple of teams with young quarterbacks. Bryce Young gets the nod for Carolina, while it will be Desmond Ridder for Atlanta. Both teams will likely take advantage of the ground game. This could be a quick game!
Cincinnati Bengals at Cleveland Browns; 48.5
The Battle of Ohio. Joe Burrow says he is healthy and ready to go. DeShaun Watson is excited about getting the chance under center for Cleveland. Can the Browns ground game and defense hold up for a Week One upset?
San Francisco 49ers -2.5 at Pittsburgh Steelers; 41.5
This is certainly not an easy game for the 49ers to start the season. Kenny Pickett and Mike Tomlin together are both determined to get their Steelers back to the postseason. Taking on San Francisco certainly is throwing into the fire.
Arizona Cardinals +7 at Washington Commanders; 38.5
Many will watch this game as they look for Arizona to lose every game all season. Game #1 against Sam Howell, getting his first start at quarterback. Washington needs to be careful here at home.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers +6 at Minnesota Vikings; 45.5
The first game post-Tom Brady. The Buccaneers must return to their defensive ways and get production from the running back committee. The Vikings are defending divisional champions and want to start by showing that.
Jacksonville Jaguars -5 at Indianapolis Colts; 45.5
Divisional rivalry game. That may not matter. The Colts will have a hard time competing in any games this season. Jacksonville is ready for the season following their postseason win a season ago.
Tennessee Titans +3 at New Orleans Saints; 41.5
High hopes for Dennis Allen and the Saints. This is the first of three without Alvin Kamara. Can the Titans put things together in 2023? It must start on the defensive side and move to their quarterback.
Las Vegas Raiders +3.5 at Denver Broncos; 43.5
It’s a divisional rivalry game here. Can the Raiders go to Denver and ruin the first head coaching game by Sean Payton for the Broncos? It must be a Jimmy G. classic for the Raiders to get it done.
Miami Dolphins +3 at Los Angeles Chargers; 51.5
Many consider this the best game of the day: Tua and the Dolphins against Herbert and the Chargers. There are offensive weapons all over the field for this game. Is 51.5 points enough for the total here? Look for a shootout in Los Angeles!
Los Angeles Rams +5.5 at Seattle Seahawks; 45.5
Not having Cooper Kupp is a big problem for the Rams. Matthew Stafford is struggling with a young offensive core. Look for Pete Carroll and the Seahawks to have all sorts of plans for Stafford and company here. Seattle in a blowout looks likely.
Philadelphia Eagles at New England Patriots; 45.5
The Eagles got no walk in the park for their first game of the season. Anytime you have to go on the road to New England, it’s not an easy win. Jalen Hurts and the Eagles will try to avoid the Super Bowl losing hangover.
Green Bay Packers +1 at Chicago Bears; 41.5
Jordan Love against Justin Fields. It’s the Packers in Chicago to take on the Bears. This should be a good one, but it will not be the days of old when Aaron Rodgers was under center. Chicago is thankful for that and looking to grab a Week One win.
Dallas Cowboys -3.5 at New York Giants; 46.5
Sunday Night Football. Dak Prescott and the Cowboys against Daniel Jones and the Giants. The game is played in the Big Apple—the first of back-to-back primetime games in New York. The Giants and Cowboys reached the postseason last season and are looking to do so again.
Buffalo Bills -2.5 at New York Jets; 46.5
There will be all sorts of hype in this game—the first start under center for Aaron Rodgers in a Jets uniform. The Buffalo Bills are still one of the best teams in the league and will get overlooked all night here. Josh Allen is out to show who the better quarterback is to start the season.
