Florida State Seminoles Stats

While the Florida State Seminoles haven’t achieved the same level of sustained dominance in Men’s College Basketball (NCAAB) as they have in football, their program boasts a rich history dating back to 1947. They’ve captured two conference championships, in 1971 and 2000, and reached the NCAA Tournament 18 times. Their most successful run came in 2012, advancing to the Elite Eight under legendary coach Leonard Hamilton. While recent years haven’t yielded the same level of success, the Seminoles remain a force to be reckoned with in the Atlantic Coast Conference, consistently attracting talented players and coaches. The program’s passionate fanbase and commitment to excellence ensure it will continue to strive for national prominence in the years to come.

Championships

This team has never won a championship in its history, but they did make it to the championship game of the 1972 March Madness Tournament. However, they took an 81-76 loss to the UCLA Bruins, which was one of the 10 championships John Wooden won as head coach.

Bill Walton led UCLA with 24 points and 20 rebounds in that game.

For FSU, they had Ron King who scored 27 points and grabbed six rebounds. Ron Harris came off the bench to score 16 points and pull in six boards. Reggie Royals added 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Florida State got there by upsetting Bob McAdoo and the North Carolina Tar Heels in the Final Four and the Kentucky Wildcats in the Elite Eight. They also defeated the Minnesota Golden Gophers in the Sweet 16 and Eastern Kentucky Colonels in the first round.

FSU also has an NIT championship game appearance in 1997 but lost to the Michigan Wolverines 82-73.
