Let’s see which team is the one who takes the win on this Cowboys at Cyclones betting preview.
The eighth-ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys will travel to Jack Trice Stadium on Saturday afternoon to take on the Iowa State Cyclones in a Big 12 Conference matchup. The Cowboys are a perfect 6-0 (3-0) and are coming off a 32-24 road win over the 25th-ranked Texas Longhorns.
Junior quarterback Spencer Sanders had a decent game as he went 19-of-32 for 178 yards with a touchdown and an interception. The Cyclones are 4-2 (2-1) this season and are coming off a 33-20 road win over the Kansas State Wildcats. Senior quarterback Brock Purdy had a great game as he went 22-of-25 for 208 yards with a touchdown.
Veteran Runner
The Oklahoma State Cowboys love to run the ball effectively, and senior running back Jaylen Warren has been doing well. So far this season, he has 148 attempts for 705 yards (4.8 yards per carry) with six touchdowns while also having 11 receptions for 122 yards (11.1 yards per catch).
In his last game against the Texas Longhorns, he finished with 33 attempts for 193 yards (5.8 yards per rush) and two catches without any yards. If he can find the end zone, it will do wonders for the Cowboys.
The Oklahoma State Cowboys have been a solid defensive team this season as they are allowing 19.5 points per game so far. In their previous game against the Texas Longhorns, they gave up 24 points on 317 total yards of offense (179 passing, 138 rushing).
They did a great job of getting stops on third and fourth down as Texas went 4-of-14 on third down and 0-of-1 on fourth down. Oklahoma State needs to figure out how to stop the run as the Longhorns averaged 4.2 rushing yards per game. If they can continue getting stops, it will be a great chance for them to remain undefeated.
Deck the Halls
The Iowa State Cyclones dominate the running game, and junior running back Breece Hall has been doing just that. So far this season, he has 134 attempts for 748 yards (5.6 yards per carry) with ten touchdowns while also having 21 receptions for 152 yards (7.2 yards per catch) with a receiving touchdown.
In his last game against the Kansas State Wildcats, he finished with 30 attempts for 197 yards (6.6 yards per rush) and a pair of touchdowns while adding five catches for 35 yards (7.0 yards per reception). If he can continue to dominate in all facets of the offense, they can win here.
The Iowa State Cyclones have been an incredible defensive team this season as they are giving up 16.3 points per game so far. In their previous game against the Kansas State Wildcats, they gave up 20 points on 342 total yards of offense (206 passing, 136 rushing).
They need to improve on stooping third and fourth down attempts as Kansas State went 6-of-11 on third down and 1-of-1 on fourth down. Iowa State needs to figure out how to limit the passing game as the Wildcats averaged nine passing yards per game. If they can continue improving, they will be incredible here.
Who to Bet
These teams have played very competitive games recently, and the Cowboys have defeated three straight-ranked opponents while scoring 29 points per game. These defenses have been elite this season as well, so any little advantage is going to be grand. Give me the undefeated eighth-ranked program getting over a touchdown on the road to cover the spread.
