Important Team Events

The Wolfpack won their first championship in 1974, and that was an important event in their program history because of the fact they ranked second in the AP poll heading into the season. They finished the season with a 24-1 record, losing to only the great John Wooden and UCLA in a pretty convincing fashion. NC State, however, got them back in the tournament in the Final Four, winning that game 80-77 in a double-overtime thriller.

The last time this team made the Sweet 16 was in 2015, as they took a loss to the Louisville Cardinals. They defeated the Villanova Wildcats and Louisiana Tigers to get to the Sweet 16 that season.

In 2012, the Wolfpack got all the way to the Sweet 16, as they took a loss to the Kansas Jayhawks. They defeated the Georgetown Hoyas and San Diego State Aztecs to get to the Sweet 16 that season.
