Mairis Briedis vs Jai Opetaia Betting Analysis
The boxing odds are currently leaning with the champion to retain but this is the biggest fight in the cruiserweight division so this will be a time to look at both boxers to determine which will win here and leave with the IBF World Cruiserweight Championship.
Mairis Briedis
Mairis Briedis has been arguably the best cruiserweight boxer in the world today as he has a 28-1-0 record (20 knockouts) so far. He is up there in age as he is currently 37 years old and won each of his previous five fights heading into this highly anticipated matchup. He has been able to travel around the world and dominate wherever he is and has done a great job as he has defended his IBF World Cruiserweight Championship a few times. If he can knock off Jai Opetaia here, it will be tough to imagine anyone that has the ability to do so.
Jai Opetaia
Jai Opetaia has been one of the biggest up-and-coming boxers in the world as he has a perfect 21-0-0 (17 knockouts) throughout his young career. He is just 27 years old and has a two inch height advantage and a slight one inch reach advantage in this fight. Each of his previous three fights ended with three TKOs as he is one of the most powerful strikers in the world. If he can figure out how to dominate in this matchup against one of the world’s toughest fighters, he will definitely be a worthy champion.
Updates
This fight seemed to be cursed as these two were originally set to face off on April 6, but was cancelled when Briedis contracted COVID-19 and then the flu afterwards. The fight was then rescheduled to May 11 but was once again cancelled as Opetaia had gotten a rib injury. Third time is the charm here as we can finally see something more than the boxing betting odds for these two men.
Mairis Briedis vs Jai Opetaia Betting Preview
This could be an extremely entertaining fight as this is Briedis’ toughest fight since picking up his only matchup against Oleksandr Usyk back in January 2018. This should be an incredible must-see fight as this is the third time that we are trying to see this fight beween two of the biggest cruiserweights in the world of boxing. The boxing betting odds have this going to the championship to retain, but let’s discuss where we should be leaning.
Mairis Breidis vs Jai Opetaia Betting Prediction
This is going to be the toughest fight for either boxer in a very long time as both of these guys are some of the best in the entire world. This fight is happening in Opetaia’s home country of Australia and that could be a negative as he feels a little too comfortable here.
