Elks Analysis
Many people continuously criticize the Elk for its poor start. While I would also fall guilty in this category, they have been statistically improving and would be tied for second in the East division. Is there finally some upside?
The Elk will likely have the return of QB Tre Ford so that can provide some major improvement for their offense.
Their total yardage per game has been immensely lacking as they are the only team in the CFL that averages under 300 yards per game. They need a kick start to this offense, and it will not be easy this week.
The Edmonton defense has been slightly better. They rank fourth in passing yards allowed thus far in the year, which is not too bad. They truly lack in the run game, and they are the league’s worst run defense.
Elks Defense
The Elks overall defense is rather abysmal as they rank among the league’s worst in total yards per game and points allowed per game. It has been a struggle in Alberta for this crew.
The big task for this Elk team is to improve from the last matchup between these two teams. They had the worst performance in the CFL thus far in the year. Any improvement is a good one, and the Elk could use some of that.
BC Lions Analysis
Football has not been this exciting in Vancouver in a rather long time! They are currently the second best in Canadian football as it stands. The show is truly in BC Place for the first eight weeks!
Every preview for the Lions obviously starts with Nathan Rourke, who has been the best player in the CFL thus far. Rourke’s electrifying offense ranks at the top in just about every statistical category.
The Lions offense is ranked number one in total yards per game, points per game, pass yards a game, and rushing yards per game. The Lions have had a sensational offense!
Lions Defense
While the defense may not be as prominent, they have still done an excellent job. They have one of the league’s interception leaders, Garry Peters, in their secondary.
Their defense allows the least amount of total yards per game, the least amount of passing yards per game, and allows the second least amount of rush yards per game! You can’t ask for a better team than that!
The goal for this week is to not fall into the trap game. While it may seem like an easy game, is this a potential trap game?
Lions fans probably don’t want to find out if that is true. The Lions need to come out with the same intensity every week and not let up!
