CFL football continues on Friday night with a great West division matchup! The West has been very competitive, and this game could be a huge chance of the tides for the team that emerges victorious.
The CFL schedule treats us to Nathan Rourke and B.C. Lions are heading to Regina to face off against Pete Robertson and the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
CFL Score Records
The B.C. Lions head into this game at 4-1, which ties them for second place in the West. Last week, they squeaked out a five-point victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Rourke had his worst game of the year by far, but he still remains at the top of the passing category!
The Saskatchewan Roughriders head into this game at 4-3, which slots them in fourth in the West division. Without QB Cody Fajardo, the Roughriders struggled immensely last week, falling to the Argonauts 31-21! There are many questions surrounding this offense with uncertainty at the Q.B. position.
B.C. Lions vs. Saskatchewan Roughriders Betting Analysis
BC Lions Analysis
The Lions are 0-2 in their last two matchups. They need to find the momentum they had at the start of the season. This game will most certainly be a battle for this high-powered offense!
Nathan Rourke has been the heart and soul of the offense. Due to his breakout year, he has managed to top the CFL in T.D.s, completion percentage (min 3 G.P.), and passing efficiency!
It does not get much better than that Canadian Q.B.! His primary weapon, Dominique Rhymes, has been unreal thus far, leading the CFL in T.D.s and 30+ yard games!
Lions’ Defense
On the defensive front, no team has been better at limiting yards! They currently are ranked first in total yards allowed, passing yards allowed, and under 90 rushing yards allowed! You have to earn every inch against this team! They have allowed 20+ points twice thus far this year.
The major question for B.C. is whether or not they can shake off two straight losses. The momentum is truly against them right now. This is major adversity for a team that has faced minimal adversity thus far. So can they handle it?
Saskatchewan Roughriders Analysis
The injury bug has caught the Roughriders pretty badly. Three of the Roughriders’ star players were unavailable last week. Saskatchewan is coming off back-to-back losses to Toronto as they hope to bounce back this week.
Although Fajardo is currently listed on the I.R. for one week, there is no guarantee he will come back this week.
With third-string QB Jake Dolega under center, they were unable to do much scoring. Until a decision is made on Cody, this offense remains skeptical and unreliable.
However, the Saskatchewan defense could not be further than that! The Regina Sack party continues to wreak havoc in opposing backfields!
CFL’s Sack Leader
CFL sack leader Pete Robertson has been leading the charge as three of the top five sack leaders are invited to the party! They spend a lot of time making offensive coordinators’ nights much harder.
The biggest question will be if this team can force Rourke to make mistakes. Regardless of how the offense plays, the defensive aggressiveness will be a huge factor in whether they emerge victorious or continue to fall down the standings!
CFL Betting Trends
- The BC Lions are 3-2 ATS
- The Saskatchewan Roughriders are 4-3 ATS
- The BC Lions point differential is +72
- The Saskatchewan Roughriders point differential is +23
B.C. Lions vs. Saskatchewan Roughriders Betting Preview
Your CFL pick should go to the team that will dominate on the weaker side of the ball. The primetime action will be when B.C. is on the attack, and the Roughriders are on defense. That will most certainly be a major factor in the winner.
Will the banged-up Roughriders be able to hold up against an unforgiving Lions defense? What will the Roughriders look like? Will they be without their stars? It’s all a mystery for now!
Lions vs. Roughriders Betting Prediction
The pick is simple in my book. It does not matter what the Roughriders look like; the B.C. Lions are super strong on both sides of the ball. Rourke will be able to put up major numbers while the Rider falls behind rather swiftly! Bet the B.C. Lions -1.5
CFL Pick: Lions -2 (1.91)
