Their defense may be more concerning. They let up above-average points and yards which makes them an interesting variable.
While they force 1.7 fumbles per game and average two sacks per game, they let up nearly 27 PPG and over 350 total yards per game. The Stampeders’ defense has been very hit or miss.
Calgary Stampeders Rosters
The biggest question for this roster is can their defense pull this team together? They have many offensive weapons like All-Star Ka’Deem Carey and Bo Levi Mitchell to play well on that side of the ball. Without a great defensive performance, they could be in for a long night in Edmonton.
Edmonton Elks Analysis
For the first time this season, it can confidently be said that the Elks have been playing well. This is not your sign to bet on them +5000 to win the Grey Cup but they are finally turning some heads!
Last week, there was a critical move on the roster that lit a spark in the form of Tre Ford. Ford went into Hamilton and delivered quite the game at Tim Hortons Field.
Ford Struggle
Ford struggled in the early going but managed to storm back and STUN the Tiger-Cats. He threw 151 yards and one touchdown.
The fact he was able to get four receivers with multiple catches shows that he is comfortable with everyone on the field.
Similarly to their opposition, the big concern is defense. They have been burnt and bombed a number of times.
Edmonton Defensive Category
They rank dead last in nearly every defensive category including yards (over 400 per game) and points (allowing 35 PPG). They have forced minimal havoc on opposing teams.
The big question is regarding whether or not this team can continue its hot streak. Over the past two games, they have shown a level of competitiveness that we have yet to see from them this year.
Their offense has been able to counter their embarrassing attempt at defense. Could this be the end of the good play?

The key to this week is the value. I see value with the Elk covering the spread Thursday night. In the previous game, the Stampeders failed to run away with a much worse-off Elk team. Edmonton could continue to turn heads!
Even with the offensive firepower in Calgary, their play has not been consistently well and the Elk are fresh off a much-needed win. The Elk has more upside and presents tremendous value!
