CFL Week 11 Analysis
For the second straight week, quarterbacks are dominating the news leading up to the week’s games. This time it’s Dru Brown being sidelined and Jeremiah Masoli getting the start for Ottawa. Masoli has had his own injury issues this season, but is a solid quarterback in the CFL. Taylor Powell’s effort in relief of Bo Levi Mitchell last week earned him the start for Hamilton this week.
The biggest news in CFL circles was British Columbia signing quarterback Nathan Rourke, who was released by the Atlanta Falcons. Rourke and Vernon Adams give the Lions the best 1-2 combination in the league, but could create problems when Adams is ready to return to the line-up. Rourke will participate in Wednesday’s practice for the Lions. He’s already in game shape, it’s a matter of him learning the playbook. When you have a QB of Rourke’s caliber, you simplify things if needed to get him on the field.
There has been a bit of line movement in the early part of the week as quarterback news continues to come out. The best game of the week looks to be Montreal (8-1) visiting Saskatchewan (5-3-1). The CFL Week 11 betting predictions have the Roughriders favored by 1 with a total of 51.
While offense dominates the CFL, this game could come down to the defense of Montreal. The Alouettes are one of the top stop units in the CFL, although that’s not really being reflected in this week’s CFL odds. Expect the defense to step up a bit this week, and the best bet here is the under 51.
CFL Week 11 Odds
- Calgary Stampeders -3.5 over Ottawa Redblacks; Total 49.5
- Saskatchewan Roughriders -1 over Montreal Alouettes; Total 51
- Edmonton Elks -2.5 (-105) over Hamilton Tiger-Cats; Total 53
- British Columbia Lions -1 over Winnipeg Blue Bombers; Total 48
CFL Week 11 Betting Analysis
The CFL Week 11 betting predictions have seen a fairly significant move in the Calgary game, as the Stampeders have gone from 2.5-point favorites to 3.5. While it’s just a point, any time a point spread crosses over 3, it’s worth noting. Masoli gives Ottawa a chance to win if he’s at his best, although he could show some signs of rust.
Montreal opened as 2.5-point favorites over Saskatchewan, and the point spread has come down. The Alouettes are undefeated on the road this season at 4-0 in a year that has seen home teams go 27-12-1. Montreal is No. 1 or No. 2 in most of the primary defensive categories and should be able to slow down the Roughriders’ offense.
The Roughriders can play a little defense themselves, ranking No. 4 in points allowed. The team is No. 2 in rushing defense, but does allow some yards through the air. If they can prevent the big play, the CFL predictions today believe this one will land under the total.
A pair of 2-7 teams meet in Hamilton, although the game could be entertaining. Both teams can score some points, although the defenses are suspect. Powell could find things a little tougher as a starting quarterback than they were last week.
Winnipeg was favored by 3.5 points when this week’s CFL lines came out. The signing of Rourke saw a huge move in the CFL Week 11 betting predictions, however, and the Lions are now favored by 1. Rourke is good, although he’ll only have a few days with the team before the first game.

CFL Betting Trends
While home teams are 27-12-1 straight-up, they’ve also gone a profitable 24-16 against the spread this season. Home underdogs have performed the best, going a solid 11-5. Totals have been pretty much split down the middle, with overs going 19-21.
CFL Week 11 Betting Picks
Bet the under 51 in the game between the Montreal Alouettes and the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Montreal takes pride in its defense, and playing the top team in the West Division should be enough to get the team motivated. The Alouettes have been guilt of coasting a little bit at times this year, which is to be expected from a team with a comfortable lead in the standings.
