After an eventful week, we kick off this week with some fun in the capital. While some might call it a blunder bowl, it will still be an excellent matchup.
Both clubs stand in last place in their respective divisions. Nonetheless, it will be a very competitive matchup. Taylor Cornelius and the Edmonton Elks (2-7) head to the capital city of Ottawa to face Jaelon Acklin and the Ottawa Redblacks (1-7).
With both of these teams struggling, there is no telling which ball club will win this matchup! The Redblacks vs. Elks best bet is down below!
Edmonton Elks vs. Ottawa Redblacks
Teams Previous Scoreboards
For the Edmonton Elks, wins have come few and far between. They are currently riding a three-game losing streak. In week 10, the Edmonton Elks fell short of the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
With the score being 34-23, they did not help out spread bettors very much. QB Cornelius Taylor had a rather eventful day as he passed for over 200 yards and rushed for two scores. Not too bad, considering they played a notoriously well-coached front seven!
Redblacks Single Win
The Ottawa Redblacks currently have a single win on the year. In their previous matchup in week 9, they took a tough 14-point loss to the Calgary Stampeders.
The score was 17-3, but it was very impressive they held Bo Levi Mitchell’s high-powered offense to 14 points! The QB play was terrible for the Redblacks as both QBs that played threw a combined total of 3 interceptions!
Edmonton Elks vs. Ottawa Redblacks Analysis
Three combined wins and an inconsistent QB between these two teams should make for an interesting game. These defenses need to wake up this week as they are playing lower-tier offenses.
The loser of this matchup might not see a win for a long time. It is truly up to Cornelius Taylor and Nick Arbuckle to find a way to put both of these offenses in a place to succeed!
Odds Breakdown
Elks Odds
The Elk have been struggling for over a month now. Going into the year, it was not going to be a surprise that they currently stand last.
The poor overall play from the defense has truly been what has killed them, but it does not excuse the offense for its mediocrity.
Wide receiver Kenny Lawler has been the one true bright spot for this Elks team. Lawler ranks first in receptions, fifth in yards, and fourth in touchdowns! Beyond that, the Elks’ offense has not been all that bright.
Quarterback Inconsistency
The inconsistency at QB and the lack of scoring have really killed them. The Elks rank last among CFL teams in yards per game and points per game. Just a very poor team that has not found much success.
Starting with something nice to say about the defense would be the right thing to do. Frankly, there is nothing nice to say here.
They rank last in every category defensively. They allow the most yards and points per game. The defense is unable to hold while the offense cannot put any product on the field. It is truly a mess.
Redblacks Analysis
The Redblacks currently rank dead last in the CFL rankings. It was no shock that they also are in last place. They have the least favorable Grey Cup odds, and they have been an overall blunder. The mess is truly all over the place.
Star pass catcher Jaelon Acklin has been a model of consistency for the Redblacks this season. Acklin is second in receiving yards and sixth in targets.
He has been an excellent target for whoever his quarterback is! You cannot say the same for the rest of this offense, as they have been rather poor at finding the endzone.
They are second to last in points. Yet, their total yards happen to be rather high as they rank third in yards per game! If they can find the endzone, this team’s outlook is completely different.
Redblacks’ Defense
While the Redblacks’ defense shines at limiting points, the amount of yards allowed is truly unacceptable. In terms of points, they allow the fifth most points per game.
That is the top half of the league, so I would call that a win. But yards are a struggle for the capital’s defense. They allow the third-most amount of yards. Just about the reverse of their offense.

Edmonton Elks vs. Ottawa Redblacks Betting Pick and Prediction
Even though the Elk love to give up large sums of points, it is rather unreasonable to think the Redblacks run away with this game. The Redblacks are a better team on paper and will likely show another high-yardage game.
Finding the end zone will likely still be a struggle for the Redblacks as their defense will pose a tough opponent for the Redblacks.
With these two lackluster offenses, you can be sure the under will likely hit! Both offenses cannot find the endzone. Even with the struggling defenses, the point will come thin!
CFL Pick: Edmonton +5 (1.87)
CFL Pick: Under 48 (1.91)
