With the East division coming down to the wire, the CFL schedule truly lucked out this year. The CFL games today are all divisional matchups for the rest of the year.
Never could they have perceived that these two teams would be within one game of each other as two games remaining. This is the first of a two-game series to cap off the season!
Saturday’s Doubleheader
The Saturday doubleheader starts in Québec as the Toronto Argonauts hope to seal the east division against the Montréal Alouettes who will not go down without a fight.
This game is the best one of the week and you definitely won’t want to miss it! The Alouettes vs Argonauts betting analysis is down below
Toronto Argonauts vs Montreal Alouettes Stats
Argonauts Stats
The Argos are one game away from clinching the divisional title. With a win this week against Montreal, they clinch first place in the east division and the eastern division final will be played at BMO field. Can they clinch it this week?
Defense
This is the second time these two teams have played each other this year. Toronto was hardly able to hang on the first time around.
The Toronto defense had a fantastic game that day. They allowed 19 points, only one touchdown, and forced one turnover. The defense had an excellent game that day.
Offense
Their offense was decently productive. McLeod Bethel-Thompson threw for over 250 yards and had a 1:1 touchdown-interception ratio which is a solid outing. However, they struggled to find the end zone and complete drives thus resulting in this close game.
In terms of Alouettes vs Argonauts betting, this is a team that has proven its worth. They have played very well throughout the season and they are a top team in the east no doubt.
If they get the offense going, they will hit the spread. The offense has had weeks where they struggle to find the end zone more than once. They cannot have that in such a pivotal week.
Alouettes Stats
Fighting for the east division title will be an uphill battle for the Alouettes. In order for the Alouettes to clinch the top seed in the east, they must win the next two games against the Toronto Argonauts. This is easier said than done but far from impossible!
In their only matchup this year, they walked away with a sour-tasting loss. David Cote missed a last-second field goal which cost them the game.
Nevertheless, the Alouettes receiving corps had a great week! Eugene Lewis had seven catches for over 120 yards and Reggie White jr had six catches for 86 yards. Overall, not a bad outing for two receivers that have been consistently great all year!
Alouettes’ Weakness
The biggest weakness was not their defense or offense, it was their inability to get off to a fast start. The Alouettes did not reach 10 points until the fourth quarter.
They were getting pounced on all the way through. Had Cote made his last-second field goal, this may never have been a conversation. However, he did miss it and it’s a very real problem.
Interesting Situation
In terms of Alouettes vs Argonauts betting, this is a very interesting situation. The line, as you will soon see, is rather small.
The Alouettes have been in numerous games where they just barely sneak out by the skin of their teeth. This is a very plausible win for the ALS but the offense must get going early!
Matchup Betting Trends
- The Argos are 9-7 ATS overall this year, they are 4-4 ATS away, and are 6-3 ATS when they are favoured.
- The Alouettes are 9-7 ATS overall this year, they are 4-4 ATS at home, and are 6-3 ATS when they are the underdog.
- The CFL odds are currently favoring the Argonauts (-120) to win this matchup. However, Montreal is currently listed as 1.5 point underdogs in this matchup.
Argonauts vs. Montreal Alouettes Betting Picks and Prediction
My CFL prediction is truly no surprise. Percival Molson’s stadium will fill up on a game like this one. Montreal has been on a hot streak as of late and has been putting on quite the show for everyone.
Who to Bet On?
I believe that Montreal will shock the world and cover the spread of this game. In the Alouettes vs Argonauts betting picks, the Alouettes will win and cover the spread forcing the final week 21 game to be a deathmatch for this east division final and a week off!
It’s no secret this will be the best game of the east. These teams are now at each other’s throats and having the postseason come down to the wire like this, it all seems like a fairytale!
The Argos vs Alouettes game will be on at 4:30 EST and will be on TSN, RDS, and ESPN+. If you are able to get this game, you are definitely not going to want to miss this one!
CFL Pick: Alouettes +1.5 (-110)
