Having Week 1 off following a season where Toronto grabbed the Grey Cup title didn’t slow down the Argonauts. Chad Kelly made a good first impression as starting quarterback for Toronto, which will factor into the Argonauts vs Elks odds. Toronto enters Week 3 with an overmatched opponent ahead.
Edmonton has had a difficult first few weeks of the season. The Elks’ offense hasn’t been able to generate much oomph. Edmonton was shut out in Week 2 and only scored 10 points in the season opener. If Edmonton is going to be competitive this season, the Elks will have to figure out how to move the ball easier.

Toronto Argonauts vs. Edmonton Elks Betting Preview
It is important to take a quick look at how each team is doing this season before making any betting pick.
Toronto wants to keep the good times rolling
Anyone looking at Argonauts vs Elks odds shows that Toronto never let Hamilton get in the game last week. The Argonauts were able to build a 22-8 halftime lead and were able to win their first game on their CFL schedule. Kelly passed for 238 yards for the Argonauts last weekend and showed off his wheels, scoring three rushing touchdowns.
Toronto will likely want to see Kelly continue to get the ball down the field as he completed passes of 24, 25, and 59 yards. Defensively, the Argonauts were solid and were able to make the Tiger-Cats pay, intercepting two passes.
Toronto did allow Hamilton to gain 335 yards of offense, but the Argonauts had built a large enough lead that the Tiger-Cats’ picking up chunks of yardage didn’t hurt them too much.
Edmonton thought this year could be different
The Elks still aren’t where they want to be in the CFL standings. Anyone looking at Argonauts vs Elks odds will see that Edmonton lost all of its home games last year. The Elks opened this season by losing another home game to Saskatchewan.
Edmonton didn’t fair much better on the road last week. The Elks only had 151 yards of total offense. Edmonton’s struggles were compounded by turnovers. The Elks had two balls get away from them. Edmonton quarterback Taylor Cornelious only passed for 103 yards, while Kevin Brown led the team in rushing with 41 yards on seven carries. The Elks were limited to 10 points in a Week 1 loss.
Toronto Argonauts vs. Edmonton Elks Betting Picks
Edmonton has made enough component plays on defense to show the Elks are solid on that side of the ball. When it comes to offense, however, it seems unlikely that Edmonton will be involved in too many shootouts this season. Toronto was solid in Week 2 but will need to prove that it can maintain what was a solid first performance. This game should go under the total.
When it comes to CFL picks, betting the Argonauts on the spread seems like a solid option. While the Argonauts haven’t proven they can go on the road with any success this season, starting with Edmonton seems like the right challenge for a team still trying to find its groove. Toronto should be able to win by at least seven.
- Pick 1: Under 44.5
- Pick 2: Argonauts -6.5
