As we hit a large milestone in the season, we are treated to an anomaly. The CFL odds are forecasting three of the four games to be blowouts. There could even be four blowouts across every game this week!
Is it likely that we see that many blowouts in a given week or will we see some major league upsets? If you are wondering how to bet on the CFL, then you have found the right article for you!
Without further ado, let’s get into our CFL Week 7 picks! Make sure to stay tuned for more betting picks and previews!
Montreal Alouettes vs. Ottawa Redblacks
Our week starts off with an excellent CFL betting opportunity! Two struggling eastern division squads go head to head on Thursday Night Football!
The Montreal Alouettes (1-4) fly to the capital to face off against the Ottawa Redblacks (0-5)! Montreal is bound to end its cold streak this week.
While they are currently riding a two-game losing streak, it will likely end in a large victory this week in the nation’s capital. Ottawa simply does not match up well against this team and, as a result, will falter.
Evans Analysis
The Redblacks have announced they will switch QBs from Arbuckle to Evans. Evans currently has an 8.3 INT% thus far, which is great for the Alouettes, who have shown they can make plays off turnovers.
Even with Trevor Harris still under center for Montreal, their offense possesses a lot of upsides. They continually put up big numbers week in and week out.
For a weakened Redblacks defense, it would seem justifiable to see the Als blowing out the Redblacks on TNF!
Alouettes Defense
The key component to the Als’ success in hitting this bet is, in fact, their defense. Every week, the birds have passed with flying colors.
But there are instances like last week where the defense was not able to step up in a game they should’ve won. This week, they will play more disciplined football and thus lead to another win in the win column.
This will be the best game to bet on this week because Montreal is a much better team than the Redblacks.
There is a lot of value in what could very well be a large upset. There is a minimal chance that a team with holes like Swiss cheese wins against a team that is ready to roll if they can limit penalties!
CFL Pick: Alouettes -2.5 (-110)
Toronto Argonauts vs. Saskatchewan Roughriders
A rematch of the Touchdown Atlantic game from last week. The lone Saturday primetime game does promise to be a good one.
The club from the Six, Toronto Argonauts (2-2), head to Regina to play against the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Toronto has to find its groove at some point.
This will likely be the week we see some scoring in Toronto. The Argos do not need a spark, but they need a groove. With weapons all around McLeod Bethel-Thompson, there needs to be a level of success.
Argos Players Uncertainty
The main issue why you should not bet on the Roughriders is because many of their star players’ ability to play remains uncertain.
Players like Duke Williams and Kian Schaffer-Baker are already ruled out, and Cody Fajardo seems to be hurt. You cannot win a game without your all-star QB.
Even with the immense pressure from the Regina sack party, Toronto’s defense will be able to match up well and take down the Roughriders.
Roughriders Depth Chart Looks Different
The Roughriders depth chart looks a lot different than what it did a couple of weeks ago. The key to the Argonauts’ success is, in fact, their ability to limit pressure on their QB. In the CFL, time is money.
When you’re a QB going against the Roughriders, there is not much time. If they can limit sacks, they will come out of this matchup on top!
This game also holds tremendous value. With the amount of uncertainty from the home team, you are risking your money on a team without its stars.
That logic does not make sense, and you can bet on mediocrity and a larger chance to come out positive on the weekend!
CFL Pick: Argonauts +3 (-110)
