The 2023 Golden Raspberry Award (or Razzies for short) is one of the best days in entertainment as we celebrate the worst movies that have graced the silver screen or a streaming service. Check the 2023 razzie predictions here
This award is not to be taken too seriously as it is typically in jest, but since we can bet on it we might as well dive a little deeper into the worst film of the year category.
The award show is not until March 25, 2023, which is the day after the Oscars, so this should be an entertaining time for the industry.
Last Year’s Winner and This Year’s Nominees
Looking at last year’s winner of the worst film of the year, Diana: the Musical took home the honor.
The nominees for the 2023 Razzies have not officially been released as of this writing, but instead we will talk about a few movies that should be locks and give our 2023 Razzie predictions.
2023 Golden Rasberry Awards Betting Analysis
Since there has been no official announcement about the nominees, there are a lot of movies available to bet on, which in turn makes the odds better for us.
So instead, we are going to be discussing the 2023 Razzie predictions of the films with the best odds to win the award and possibly find a sleeper pick if there is one.
365 Days: This Day
This seems to be the favorite to win the award as 365 Days: This Day is +175 to win the 2023 Worst Film of the Year Razzie.
If you have been lucky enough to avoid this film, this is a sequel to the film 365 Days and is based on the second book in the trilogy, and there is another film.
It feels like they attempted to make another 50 Shades of Grey trilogy but failed incredibly at it. The movie was released on Netflix and was given a whopping zero percent on the Tomatometer according to Rotten Tomatoes on 17 reviews and does not have an audience score after four months since it was released.
Morbius
With the Marvel Cinematic Universe dominating the world for the last 15 years, Sony Pictures decided to try to jump in with Morbius, but obviously, since we are talking about it here, it flopped.
The plot of the movie is Dr. Michal Morbius (Jared Leto) is a scientist that is suffering from a blood disease and attempts to cure himself with a form of transgenic vampirism, which would give him superhuman abilities without the weaknesses of vampires. His brother also has vampirism, and it is a light and dark movie about the two brothers.
This film was not one that the critics liked as 272 reviews gave this a 15 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, but the audience score of 71 percent from over 5,000 members makes this interesting, showing the audience at least cared for this movie when it was over.
The nominees will officially be announced in February 2023, but this will be an interesting two-film race. That’s going to be the next time we get an update, as there is a significant dropoff between these two films and the rest of the field.
2023 Golden Raspberry Award Betting Preview
Diving into the 2023 Golden Raspberry Award odds, these two films are far and away the best odds, while the other films are on another level.
It feels like it is going to come down to either 365 Days: This Day or Morbius as the award winner, so we will dive into those two films exclusively.
365 Days: This Day vs. Morbius Betting Prediction
The difference between the Razzies and the other award shows is that the Razzies are voted on by the public, as all it takes is $40 to receive a vote.
The audience loved Morbius while hating on 365 Days: This Day, so it seems like a lock once you understand the voting process.
All in all, go with 365 Days: This Day as my 2023 Razzie predictions for the Worst Film of the Year.
