This award show is based on how the fans want this to go, so you can vote on Twitter or vote on the American Music Awards website.
Today, we are going to break down a few awards and discuss who should walk away as the winner, so let’s dive right into the entertainment odds for this year’s show.
Artist of the Year
This one feels like it is going to be a landslide as the nominees with their odds are:
- Drake (+1400)
- The Weeknd (+1200)
- Adele (+1000)
- Beyonce (+800)
- Bad Bunny (+300)
- Harry Styles (+250)
- Taylor Swift (-170)
It seems a little unfair, but Taylor Swift did just release her 10th studio album on October 21 titled Midnights, so she has public attention as she broke album sales records.
Harry Styles did have a run where he had a 15-night run at Madison Square Garden, but that type of thing is not going to influence the voting as much as brand-new music.
Taylor Swift Situation
You also have the whole situation with Taylor Swift now officially owning her music and fans supporting her by listening to all of her re-released versions which she re-recorded in order to have ownership status of them.
Swift has been the music that is populated on the radio throughout the entire year so go with Taylor Swift (-170) to be named the AMA Artist of the Year.
Collaboration of the Year
There are five nominations for this year’s Collaboration of the Year Award, and they are:
- Stay by The Kid LAROI & Justin Bieber (-200)
- INDUSTRY BABY by Lil Nas X & Jack Harlow (+250)
- We Don’t Talk About Bruno by Adassa & Others (+450)
- Cold Heart by Dua Lipa & Elton John (+800)
- Wait For U by Future, Drake & Tems (+1200)
Betting on entertainment means you need to eliminate a couple of the nominees as they likely will not be given the award, and Wait For U and Cold Heart feel like they are going to be tossed to the curb here.
Bruno’s Songs
We Don’t Talk About Bruno is a classic song from Disney’s Encanto, and I do not think many people have actually heard the song and consider it as mainstream as the other songs.
This one is going to be close, but I believe the Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow fans are more out to vote this song as the Bieber fans could split the votes with some other songs that are nominated, so go with INDUSTRY BABY by Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow (+250) to win the American Music Award for Collaboration of the Year.
Favorite Soundtrack
Favorite Soundtrack is one of the more intriguing awards, as there are a lot of solid choices this year. The nominees are:
- Sing 2 (+1000)
- Elvis (+800)
- Stranger Things (+450)
- Top Gun: Maverick (+350)
- Encanto (-265)
There is a little bit of an interesting factor here as Encanto and Stranger Things were released solely on Disney+ and Netflix, respectively, while the other three were theatrical releases, meaning people were more likely to watch a movie or show at home than spend money at the movie theaters.
Top Gun: Maverick made some entertainment news with Miles Teller’s rendition of the late Jerry Lee Lucas’ “Great Balls of Fire” as well as having two original songs, “Hold My Hand” by Lady Gaga and “I Ain’t Worried” by OneRepublic.
However, I do not think it will win as the other songs were not as appealing in the soundtrack.
Encanto Beating the Odds
However, Encanto is a heavy favorite to win this award, and with 32 songs listed on their soundtrack, it is hard to argue as the Latin pop sound that exudes from the soundtrack makes it have that impactful music while soundtracks like Elvis are more just covers of legendary songs.
You need to think of the generation that are voting on these awards and realize that Encanto will most likely end up winning the Favorite Soundtrack Award at the 2022 American Music Awards.
