Nathan’s Betting Analysis
It’s an interesting market with Nathan’s Hotdog eating contest odds, which sees three contestants all well-backed to win.
Leading our Hot dog eating contest predictions is Geoffrey Esper, who has taken many runner-up placings behind Chestnut over the last few years. He finally gets his chance to win the title without Chestnut in the field, and we’re not surprised by the +110 odds.
He did well to eat 49 hotdogs last year, which was two more than his nearest betting rival James Webb, so that’s a good form guide for bettors, Our Nathan’s Hotdog Contest 2024 betting preview takes the 2023 result into account.
Bettors can also bet on the winning total, which is set at 50.5 hotdogs.
He will need to eat two more hotdogs than last year, but there is plenty of improvement to come, so we’re happy to include that betting option.
Nathan’s Hotdog eating contest odds have Webb on the second line of betting at +140. There has been steady betting support for the Australian, who will attract plenty of international betting support.
He’s the first Australian to ever compete in the Nathan’s Hotdog Eating Contest, and he could walk away as the first Australian winner, Australians love their food, and although hotdogs aren’t as popular as sausages in bread in Australia, it should be a familiar feeling.
In the women’s division, Sudo is the heavy -3000 favorite. The Japanese champion won by six hotdogs last year, so she has plenty of wiggle room over her nearest rival Mayoi Ebihara.
We’re more interested in the winning margin line, which is currently 6.5 (+110). Sudo is good enough to put more of a space on her rivals, and although Ebihara is a threat, she’s no Sudo.
Nathan’s Hotdog Eating Contest Previous Winners and Betting Trends
Without Chestnut in the field, there are no recent winners in the men’s division. However, most of the money with our entertainment betting preview has come for those who have finished behind Chestnut in recent editions.
Esper comes off a second placing in 2023, so it’s no surprise to see him headline the odds. Webb finished third last year, and Nick Wehry finished fourth, so the odds reflect the 2023 result. We would have loved to have seen a new entrant make some waves, but being such a niche sport, that is tough to come by.
In the women’s division, Sudo is the clear favorite to defend her title. There hasn’t been any other betting movement for someone to beat her. Ebihara is a +750 chance, but she’s not expected to win.
Nathan’s Hotdog Eating Contest Betting Picks
It will be a close contest, but we’re sticking with the statistics and backing Esper to go one better than last year.
He is the most accomplished competitive eater in the field, and that’s reflected in betting markets as the +110 favorite.
Webb is the main contender, and it would make a good story for an Australian to win. Getting +140 is a solid saver bet, and backing both could secure a small profit. Over 50.5 hotdogs pays -115, and that’s worth including in parlays. We expect Esper to exceed his total from last year.
The women’s winning margin is also worth backing at 6.5. Sudo is going from strength to strength, and getting +110 for the winner to win by over 6.5 hotdogs is worth snapping up.
