With the global phenomenon still feeling its effects and the writing crew beginning writing on the season at the end of August 2022, it is likely we are still a year or so away from seeing the final season.
Today, we are going to dive into one of the Stranger Things props that are floating around: which character will say the first word or line in season five?

Top 4 Characters That Would Say the First Line
Dr. Owens
Starting off with the biggest longshot of the article is bold because the entertainment odds are giving up a lot of value. Still, many of the openings have been typically by characters not involved with the main cast.
Previous Season’s Openers
Season one had Mike open up the show with a voiceover which makes sense as you are introducing your audience to the program.
Season two opened with Axel/Dottie running from the police, season three opened up with the Russians, and season four opened up with Dr. Brenner, so there is definitely precedent for this to happen.
Last Time Seen
The last time we saw Dr. Owens, he was captured by Lt. Colonel Sullivan, but we did not see him die, which typically means he will survive the season.
Maybe the opening scene is him being tortured and telling the armed forces that he will not tell them where Eleven is before being killed.
It’s a long shot, but the Stranger Things props have given this bet to long shots in the past few seasons.

Eleven
Eleven is the current favorite, to say the first words of season five, and it makes sense as she is reunited with Hopper and Mike but also has a Vecna problem.
She has become the face of the show, with a lot of the promotion being centered around her, and that could be a huge indicator for the available Stranger Thing props.
Maybe she feels a bit of remorse after what has happened and opens up the portal to the Upside Down and creates this entire thing.
Hawkins in Trouble
The last thing we saw was Hawkins dealing with the Upside Down opening up, so maybe there is a chance we see Eleven trying to cope with the real world having this happen to it and her either being apologetic for letting it come to this or ready to kick some Vecna ass. This is one of our favorite Stranger Things props.

Victor Creel/Vecna
Vecna is definitely an interesting wager to make here, as I personally believe he will say the first words.
He has spoken throughout season five and obviously will play a huge factor in the plot of the final season, as it seems he is ready to take on the regular world.
Number One
Vecna was able to escape death and was able to have the Upside Down merge with Hawkins, and we already understand a bit of Henry Creel’s character.
Interestingly enough (unless it is just a typo) that the sportsbook includes Victor Creel in this wager, as well as he is the father to Henry, the actual name of Number One and Vecna.
Could this be where the show opens up with Vecna approaching Victor Creel and finishing the deed of killing his family?

Will Byers
Will Byers is an interesting character, as the second the group made it back to Hawkins in the season four finale, the hairs on the back of his neck were sticking up.
Will was the character that was taken in season one, and there is definitely a connection that could be explored between Vecna and Will Byers throughout the season.
Vecna and Will’s Connection
Jamie Campbell Bower, the person who plays Vecna in the show, told NME, “I think Vecna and Will have a connection that’s yet to be explored.
As a fan, I’d be interested to see more of that.” Is that a little hint that is dropped, as that could be a sign of things to come in the opening scene of Season 5? Guess we have to wait and see.
