The 54th annual World Series of Poker is currently underway in Las Vegas, featuring 115 bracelet events from May 30 until July 18. Many new and special events are on the 2023 schedule, but none are more significant than the WSOP Main Event, considered the most prestigious tournament in all of poker. The $10,000 buy-in event draws thousands of players from around the world, with the winner receiving the highly coveted bracelet.
The Main Event runs from July 3 through July 17, with 11 days of poker action for those that reach the final table. 2006 saw a record 8,773 entries into the WSOP Main Event, with last year’s event falling just 110 players short of that mark. Tournament officials are confident that the record will be broken in 2023.
Espen Jorstad won his second bracelet of the 2022 WSOP series when he won the main event and the $10 million prize, beating out 8,662 other entrants to become the first Norweigan player to win the championship. It’s expected that this year’s prize pool will exceed last year’s record of nearly $348 million, with several players topping the WSOP 2023 odds charts to take home the biggest share.
