Even though the NA CS:GO scene is not as strong as it used to be and nowadays lacks behind Europe, it still houses many of the world’s most popular teams, and in this article, we will look over a few of them.
Team Liquid
An esports behemoth and one of the world’s most recognizable esports organizations, Team Liquid has a long and rich history of competing in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
Originally from the Netherlands, this North American esports organization made its first appearance in Counter-Strike in 2015, less than a year after the release of CS:GO, and it didn’t need long to establish itself as one of the top teams in the scene.
Amassed Numerous Achievements
Over its long history of competing in the scene, Team Liquid has amassed numerous achievements, and its CS:GO stats speak for themselves.
Although Liquid have never won a Major Championship, the organization came close to it several times, most notably at ESL One: Cologne 2016, where they lost to the then-world top team, SK Gaming in the finals.
Intel Extreme Masters Grand Slam
But regardless of never winning a Major, Liquid have claimed the Intel Extreme Masters Grand Slam in 2019 in record 63 days and since added countless big event trophies, cementing its name as one of NA’s top CS:GO teams.
Nowadays, Team Liquid are not considered as big of a threat as they were in 2019, but they remain one of the world’s top-five teams and serious contenders for the next Major title.
Whether Liquid will ever lift the coveted trophy remains to be seen, but they’ll remain serious candidates to win any big event Liquid compete in.
Evil Geniuses
Evil Geniuses is a North-American native esports organization which was formed in 1999 and entered the CS:GO scene 20 years later, in September 2019.
At the time, Evil Geniuses acquired a hugely successful squad NRG Esports in Vincent “Brehze” Cayonte, Tsvetelin “CeRq” Dimitrov, Ethan “Ethan” Arnold, Tarik “tarik” Celik, and Peter “stanislaw” Jarguz, who helped put EG on the map.
With its inaugural CS:GO roster, Evil Geniuses would dominate the upper echelons of the CS:GO esports scene, winning a plethora of big events, including StarSeries & i-League CS:GO Season 8. However, just like Liquid, EG could never win a Major title.
Most of it had to do with the fact that EG were in the best form when COVID-19 prevented any Majors from being held, resulting in unfortunate timing for an organization that started to struggle as soon as the situation turned back to normal.
Rebuild Its Division
After a year of abysmal results, Evil Geniuses decided to completely rebuild its division, absorbing two regional CS:GO teams in Carpe Diem and Party Astronauts, forming a 15-man lineup spread across three teams. Unfortunately, their ambitious plan has yet to produce any notable results as they didn’t win any notable CS:GO events.
Evil Geniuses is of the world’s oldest esports organizations and a big name in the CS:GO scene, which has suffered a similar fate to Team Liquid, as a team that used to dominate the scene but has fallen down the rankings.
Regardless of the current situation, EG remains one of NA’s top CS:GO teams and easily one of the most popular squads in the esports betting world.
Complexity
Complexity have never achieved the same heights as Team Liquid or Evil Geniuses – at least in the CS:GO world – but they are undeniably one of the best CS:GO betting teams in North America and an organization with the longest history competing in CS.
Complexity entered the Counter-Strike scene in 2003 and has been competing in Valve’s FPS title ever since.
The organization did take a break from the CS scene in 2007 but re-entered the competitive world in August 2013, forming its first CS:GO squad.
Ever since Complexity have been seen competing in some of the world’s top CS:GO events, and the team has achieved reasonable success over the years.
But continuing the trend, Complexity has never won a Major title, falling short at every single Major Championship Complexity has attended.
Close to Major Winning in 2013
Interestingly, Complexity came closest to winning a Major in 2013, when they placed top-four at DreamHack Winter 2013. In recent years, Complexity have continued competing in some of the biggest CS:GO events, yet struggling to deliver against the world’s top teams without any success.
Nevertheless, despite not being considered as one of the top teams, Complexity remains a dangerous underdog and one of NA’s top CS:GO teams.
