The 2022/23 Rocket League enters the final third of the season this April with the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) 2023/23 Winter Split Major.
The tournament will travel to San Diego, United States. The RLCS welcomes 16 of the world’s top RL esports teams vying for the lion’s share of the $310,000 prize pool.
Here is our RLCS Winter Split Major preview. Also, we are going to share RLCS Major odds and all the information and esports stats you’ll need to find solid betting opportunities.
RLCS Winter Split Major Schedule & Format
The 2022/23 RLCS Winter Split Major will mark the second RLCS Major of the season. This one is set to kick off on Thursday, April 6, at the San Diego Convention Center.
The event will welcome 16 Rocket League esports teams from six regions. They will be competing for the lion’s share of the $310,000 prize pool and the coveted RLCS Circuit Ranking Points.
Prize Pool Distribution:
- 1st: $100,000 + 40 RLCS Points
- 2nd: $60,000 + 32 RLCS Points
- 3rd-4th: $27,000 + 24 RLCS Points
- 5th-8th: $12,000 + 16 RLCS Points
- 8th-12th: $9,000 + 10 RLCS Points
- 13th-16th: $3,000 + 6 RLCS Points
RLCS Major Schedule is already confirmed and will use the same RLCS Major schedule we saw from previous Majors. The event will run for four days and feature two stages: Group Stage and Playoffs.
In the group stage, the 16 teams will be split into four round-robin groups of four. All RLCS matches will be played as best-of-five (Bo5). The winner of each group will advance to the quarterfinals. The second and third-placed teams will proceed to Round 1 of the playoffs, while the fourth-placed teams will get eliminated.
The esports schedule and format for the playoffs won’t change, either. The tournament’s final stage will welcome the top 12 teams seeded based on their placement in the group stage.
All Round 1 matches will be played as best-of-five (Bo5). Meanwhile, the rest of the bracket, including the grand finals, will be best-of-seven (Bo7).
RLCS Major Odds & RLCS Major Picks
The RLCS Winter Major will be stacked with incredible talent. Yet a few teams stand out from the rest as the main favorites and the most appealing RLCS Major picks.
Gen.G Mobil1 Racing
Gen.G Mobil1 Racing, who boast incredible esports stats, enter the Winter Major as the main favorites to win it all. Priced at just +450 with esports betting sites, Gen.G Mobil1 Racing are a squad to keep an eye on, granted they’ve had a couple of iffy displays recently.
Gen.G Mobil1 Racing won the Fall Split Major in December, and while they’ve done well since winning the NA Winter Cup, they’ve also lost the next two NA Regional events, and both times, they were eliminated by FaZe Clan.
FaZe Clan
FaZe Clan, who have proven to be Gen. G’s main rivals, are the second favorite based on the outright RLCS Major odds. They’re back-to-back NA Regional tournament champions and, as proven, a squad that can eliminate Gen.G Mobil1 Racing.
Karmine Corp & Team Liquid
But we can’t ignore teams from other regions, either. Despite being priced as third-favorites on the outright RLCS betting odds, Karmine Corp are always a threat and priced at +600 RLCS Major odds; they are one of the more appealing RLCS Major picks. The French squad won the first two EU Regional events and placed second in the Winter Invitational, narrowly losing Team Liquid (+800), who is a strong dark horse to make a deep run.
G2 Esports, Complexity Gaming & Oxygen Esports
The rest of the lineup in San Diego, including G2 Esports (+900), Complexity Gaming (+1100), and Oxygen Esports (+1100), aren’t to be ignored either. Granted, neither showed much this season and will have much to prove when they face the leading four candidates.
The last RLCS Major proved to be incredibly close, and we don’t expect that to change with the RLCS Winter Major. However, as we get closer to the RLCS event, one thing is very clear: Gen.G, FaZe Clan, Karmine Corp, and to some degree, Team Liquid are well above the opposition and the main teams to watch.
