The 2022 AT&T Byron Nelson Classic returns this week to TPC Craig Ranch in suburban Dallas. This will be the second season that TPC Craig Ranch has hosted the event. The tournament is one of two on the PGA Tour schedule that is named after a professional golfer. Let’s check the AT&T Byron Nelson Classic Odds.
AT&T Byron Nelson Classic Odds
The FedEx Cup leader and world no. 1 Scheffler is the betting favorite heading into this week’s tournament. Scheffler, looking for his fifth victory in four months, can be grabbed at +700 for PGA tour odds. The University of Texas product currently resides in Dallas.
Right behind Scheffler is Justin Thomas (+900). Thomas has been a beacon of consistency this season, making all 11 cuts and not finishing worse than T35. With his consistent play, it is only a matter of time before J.T. returns to the winner’s circle.
Rounding out the top-5 pre-tournament favorites is Will Zalatoris (+1400), Dustin Johnson (+1800), and Xander Schauffele (+1800). Zalatoris is the only golfer of the bunch without a PGA Tour victory, but the talented golfer has three top-10 finishes over his last three events.
AT&T Byron Nelson Classic Betting Analysis
TPC Craig Ranch stretches 7,468 yards from the tips and is a par-72. The private golf club located within the community of Craig Ranch opened in 2004. Designed by major champion Tom Weiskopf, the course’s main feature is Rowlett Creek which crosses through the property 14 times.
Judging by K.H. Lee’s winning score of 25-under, tournament participants are going to have to shoot in the 60s all four rounds if they want a chance at the title. The last three winners of the tournament have finished 23-under or better.
Scoring and birdie average are statistics to focus on as weather conditions look prime for the pros to challenge the course this week.
AT&T Byron Nelson Classic Betting Predictions
Max Homa took home his second Wells Fargo Championship last week and picked up his third PGA Tour victory in the last two seasons. The last two weeks have produced winners that were near the top of the betting board prior to the start of the event. Below are golf picks that list golf betting odds of our three favorite outright plays, along with a few finishing positions for some players.
Justin Thomas (+900) – Thomas has done everything this season but won a golf tournament. The 29–year-old major winner has six top-10 finishes this season, including four top-5’s. His Strokes Gained numbers are right there and tell us he is due for a victory.
Jordan Spieth (+2200) – Hard to ignore the Texas-native in his home state coming off a win at the RBC Heritage last month. Spieth has a pair of victories in Texas but has never won the Byron Nelson. Another victory will give the 28-year-old all the confidence he needs heading into the PGA Championship.
Joaquin Niemann (+35000) – The young Chilean has risen into the top-20 in the FedEx and the world rankings thanks to consistent play. Niemann had to withdraw from the Zurich Classic but a T12 at the RBC Heritage tells us his game is still in good form. Neimann won the Genesis Invitational earlier this year.
Cameron Champ (+230 to finish T20 or better) – Champ has turned it up over the last month after back-to-back missed cuts leading up to the Masters. The bomber cracked the T10 at Augusta and followed that showing up with a T6 in Mexico two weeks ago. The Texas-native finished T55 here last year but expects the 3-time PGA Tour winner to crack the front page of the leaderboard this year.
Patrick Flavin (+400 to finish T40 or better) – Flavin currently is battling for status on the PGA Tour and is close to locking up enough non-member FedEx Cup points to earn a spot in the Korn Ferry Tour Finals later this year. The 26-year-old has played in four Tour events this season, making the cut in three with a pair of top-25 finishes. Flavin has the game to compete on the big stage, and with limited opportunities look for him to have a solid tournament.
