The best players in the world return to the hallowed grounds of Augusta National Golf Club for the 86th playing of the Masters Tournament in Augusta, GA. The first major of the 2022 year has a lot of drama surrounding the possible return to competition of five-time Masters champion Tiger Woods. Woods hasn’t been in action since the 2020 Masters that took place in November of that year.
Tournament play begins on Thursday as the pros play for a piece of the $11.5 million purse and the coveted green jacket. The winner of the tournament also receives 600 FedEx Cup points and owns a lifetime exemption into the tournament.
Last Tournaments Records
Hideki Matsuyama made history, becoming the first Japanese golfer to win a men’s major championship. Matsuyama carded a 10-under over four rounds of play, defeating rookie Will Zalatoris by one stroke.
Xander Shauffele and Jordan Speith tied for third with a four-round total of seven-under. International stars Jon Rahm and Marc Leishman rounded out the top-5 with a respectable total of six-under.

The Masters Betting Analysis
Heading into the week of the Masters, Jon Rahm is the pre-tournament favorite at +900. Scottie Scheffler, the newly minted top player in the World, sits behind Rahm at +1200. Justin Thomas, a favorite amongst many to win his second major this week, and Cameron Smith can each be selected at +1400.
2020 winner Dustin Johnson rounds out the top five at +1600, and Matsuyama can be played at +3500 if you believe he will be the first golfer since Woods in 2001 and ‘02 to repeat as champion. Other notable players include Rory McIlroy (+2000), Brooks Koepka (+2000), Jordan Speith (+2200), Bryson DeChambeau (+4500), and Tiger Woods (+5000).
The Masters Betting Preview
There are a handful of storylines in play as the week of the Masters is here. Matsuyama withdrew from last week’s Valero Texas Open with a neck injury, and his health status is in question after also having to pull out of THE PLAYERS. Woods noted himself that he is a game-time decision for play but flew up last week for a day to play the course and test his injured leg.
Scottie Scheffler has taken over the top spot in the world and has won three of his last five events. Scheffler is making his third appearance at Augusta, with a T19 and T18 in his previous two trips.
All eyes are on Woods, who traveled up to Agusta on Sunday and is scheduled to meet with the media on Tuesday. Woods has yet to commit to playing officially, but if he does, it’ll add another layer to the 25th anniversary of his 1997 Masters victory.
The Masters Betting Prediction
The Masters field is the smallest of the major events, with only 92 players in the field. While the field is small, the field possesses the best professional and amateur players in the world.
Outright Winner
Our favorite play this week is Justin Thomas (+1400) to take home his first green jacket and second major title. Thomas hasn’t won on Tour this season, but the 28-year old five top-10 finishes this season and ranks second in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green.
Top-10 Finisher
Jordan Speith (+210 to finish T10 or better) is another name we like to slip on the jacket and one we are comfortable taking to finish in the top 10. Speith had a disappointing week in San Antonio, but the 28-year old 2015 Masters champion always steps his game up at Augusta.
Top-20 Finisher
Billy Horschel (+200 to finish T20 or better) is our play here. Horschel’s best finish at the Masters was in 2016 (T17), but the University of Florida alum has six finishes in the top-25 in nine events this year.
How to Bet on The Masters
Betting on golf is relatively easy, and not difficult to understand the options out there. The difficulty of betting on golf picks is trying to pick a winner out of 156 players during a typical tournament.
Golf odds are generally much higher than other sports, with the favorite Rahm at +900. If you want to wager $100 on Rahm and he were to win, you’d get $900 in return pus your wager amount.
Some bets can be placed for players to finish T10, T20, or T40, as well as the matchup, plays for each round, or tournament matchups you can play that are bets made favoring one player against another. Numerous other bets are available depending on the sportsbook of your choice.
