The PGA Tour season moves to Silvis, Illinois, for the John Deere Classic this coming weekend. The John Deere Classic is typically known as one of the “lesser known” events on the tour, as it comes just before the Open Championship. This year though, the John Deere Classic has a week in between. The John Deere Classic takes place from July 6-9, while the Open runs from July 20-23.
TPC Deere Run gives challenges to all types of players, with great views and scenery, along with ponds and ravines running through the course. The course is just off the Mississippi and on the border of Illinois and Illinois. Par is 71, and Michael Kim holds the tournament record score, as he went -27 in 2018. J.T. Poston is the defending champion over Christiaan Bezuidenhout and Emiliano Grillo. Let’s take a look at some of our favorite John Deere Classic Predictions.
John Deere Classic Odds
Player | Odds |
Cameron Young | +1800 |
Denny McCarthy | +1400 |
Russell Henley | +1600 |
Ludvig Aberg | +2500 |
Adam Hadwin | +2200 |
Chris Kirk | +2800 |
Keith Mitchell | +2800 |
Adam Schenk | +2800 |
J.T. Poston | +3300 |
Emiliano Grillo | +2800 |
Denny McCarthy +1400
McCarthy has been playing some sensational golf as of late, with three straight Top 20 finishes. In fact, McCarthy has finished in the Top 30 in 8 out of his last 9 golf events. He is still looking for his first win on the season, as second place was the best he finished at the Memorial back in early June. He is one of the most popular John Deere Classic picks for 2023.
Cameron Young +1800
Cameron Young continues to play solid golf in 2023 but hasn’t been able to make the climb to the top of the leaderboard. Putting has been an issue for Young all season. Despite making a ton of cuts, Young has not been in the Top 20 since his 7th-place finish at the Masters back in April. When looking for John Deere Classic lines, you can grab Cameron Young at +1600. This is a decent value for a guy that should still be playing when Saturday arrives with John Deere Classic predictions at a high.
J.T. Poston +3300
The 30-year-old from North Carolina has to be one of our John Deere Classic picks after his win last year. It was his second tour win and his first since 2019. Poston won the Wyndham Championship that season over Webb Simpson. J.T. is coming off a 66th-place finish at the Travelers Championship, which came after missing the cut at the US Open. Poston is 11 of 21 in making cuts this season, and his best finish came in January, as he finished 6th at the American Express. The latest golf odds show Poston listed at +3300 to win the John Deere Classic.
Emiliano Grillo +2800
From Argentina, Grillo is no stranger to this course in Silvis. He has made 17 of 23 cuts this season and finished in the Top 10 5 times in 2023. He is coming off a 15th-place finish at the Travelers but was disappointed in missing the cut at the US Open. Grillo already has a win this season, so he knows how to close out on Sunday. He was the winner of the Charles Schwab Challenge back at the end of May. Grillo is one of the best golf players in this event, which makes him a great John Deere Classic pick.
Zach Johnson +8000
One of the icons of the golf schedule is Zach Johnson. The Iowa native and former University of Iowa golfer is back at the John Deere Classic. Johnson was able to fire a five-under 65 on the final day of the Travelers to finish 12 under and tied for 29th. He also made the cut at the Rocket Mortgage, which means that’s 3 in a row. In fact, Johnson has only missed 5 cuts all season, and the latest was at Charles Schwab at the end of May. Johnson’s best finish was back in February at the Honda Classic, where he finished 12th.
A few more names to consider when making your John Deere Classic predictions:
- Russell Henley +1600
- Adam Hadwin +2200
- Chris Kirk +2800
- Cameron Champ +7000
- Chez Reavie +7500
This is set to be a great golf tournament. While many of the best golfers in the world are not in attendance, we expect a competitive tournament. Enjoy the event, and best of luck with all your John Deere Classic Picks and Predictions!
