The Belmont Stakes are happening in just a couple of weeks, and that means we need to dive into some future bets for the event. As the final leg of the Triple Crown, with the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes already happening, this should be interesting to see which horses can perform well.
Today, we are going to dive into some of the Belmont Stakes 2022 Predictions to determine which horses have the best chance to win this event and which we should be placing our wagers on.
Mo Donegal (+250)
Mo Donegal currently has the best Horse Racing odds for Belmont Stakes heading into the event as he is sitting at +250 to win the race. He has not been as active as some of the other horses in the field, as he has only competed in three races throughout the 2022 calendar year thus far.
However, he has won a race this year at one and ⅛ mile while defeating Early Voting, but is coming off a fifth-place finish in the Kentucky Derby and needs to step up here on the big stage.
Mo Donegal will have Irad Ortiz Jr as his jockey for the race, and he has been incredible throughout his career as he has won 27 percent of all his races throughout the year as well as a win, place, and show the percentage of 63 percent.
Mo Donegal is the favorite for a reason, and with solid odds available for all the horses, I would place a wager on him to win here as well.
We The People (+350)
We The People has been doing incredibly well throughout their recent races as they have won three of the previous four races heading into this event. That includes a recent race back on May 14 on a one and ⅛ mile Peter Pan race where We the People won in 1:48.27 to make himself a legit contender.
Sitting at +350 odds to win the race, this will be one of the best bets that you can make as a futures bet for this event, as he has already proven the ability to win on this course lately. His jockey is Flavien Prat and has been successful throughout the course of his career as he has a 22 win percentage and a 55 win, place, show percentage.
That means We The People should be able to be a legitimate contender during this race, and we should sprinkle a little bit of money on We The People to win the Belmont Stakes.
Rich Strike (+500)
After picking up the victory inside of the 2022 Kentucky Derby, Rich Strike did not compete in the Preakness Stakes after scheduling rest and making a chance for the Triple Crown evaporate after winning the Kentucky Derby earlier this year.
He has been doing well but has not raced since the Kentucky Derby, so that is around a month since his last race.
Sitting at +500 odds in this race, I do not love this wager as he could struggle coming off an extended period of rest between races. It is not as pronounced as you would believe, but winning this race does not seem as important to this trainer and ownership group as it does to some of the other groups.
All in all, avoid betting on Rich Strike to win two of the three legs of the Triple Crown this year.
Conclusion
Horse racing picks could be a little difficult to comprehend, especially if you are only watching during the Triple Crown events. However, there are some horses that just perform better on the bigger stages and on specific surfaces.
Jockeys with incredible experience and resumes can be the difference between a victory on one of horse racing’s biggest stages and finishing in the middle of the heap.
I am not a fan of a horse that had to skip one of the premier races due to rest, as that does not bode well for their chances. However, this is a close field that should make the event interesting without a clear favorite.
We have a little under two weeks before the race is underway, and that leaves a lot of time to analyze and determine where we should be betting to get the winner with some value. Which horses do you believe in heading into the 2022 Belmont Stakes?
