When scouting the scores and odds for the best races to bet on this weekend, take the time to assess the variety of race styles set to occur. This weekend does appear to be lighter than some other weekends, but there are still two big races to check out.
Only two races are on the schedule this weekend, but both offer thrilling competition. Here is a look at the two races that will be taking place this weekend and a quick preview of each of them.
San Carlos Stakes
The San Carlos Stakes represents one of the top races to bet on this weekend, and there should be some great action on the track in this one. This race will be run at Santa Anita Park, and the betting odds for most of the horses are extremely tight.
There have already been some great horse races 2024 to check out, but this will represent an opportunity to cash in when looking at the odds. It’s still a bit difficult to make horse racing predictions at this point of the year because there are just so many unknowns.
Elwood Blues and Ghost of Midnight are the two drivers that are leading the charge this weekend, at least in terms of the betting odds. Both of those horses have odds set at +400, and you can still cash in when betting on one of those options.
The Chosen Vron is also in the mix at +600, and those are some great odds to explore when you are making a bet on horse racing. That doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t check out some of the other horses in the race, but one of those three is likely going to finish on top.

Whitmore Stakes
The Whitmore Stakes is going to be another of the top races to bet on this weekend, and it’s an event that is going to have plenty of attention paid to it. This event is going to be run at Oaklawn Park, and that’s a racetrack that always seems to attract the biggest horses.
Since this is one of the horse racing events in which the top trainers try to get their horses, you can expect some great horses to be on the track. Ryvit is one of those horses, and it is the clear betting favorite at +200 to come away with a win at this event.
Expect Tejano Twist to be part of the lineup at the Whitmore Stakes, with odds of +450. That is a pretty big drop-off from the top two horses, but there is also some value in going away from the betting favorite.
There are some valuable Kentucky Derby points on the line at the Whitmore Stakes, and that will have all of the drivers pushing hard to win this race. There are many other horses to check out as well, and some great odds to explore.
Ninja Warrior has betting odds set at +500 to come up with a win, and Surveillance isn’t far behind at +600 at BetUS. Those four horses will all be pushing each other hard to win this race, and that will be something to keep in mind.
