AL Betting Analysis
Now that the All-Star break has concluded, it’s time for our American League midseason review.
There are plenty of tight races in the American League. The Orioles lead the Yankees by one game for the AL East. Meanwhile, the Guardians only lead the Twins by 4.5 games in the AL Central.
Finally, the Astros have made an unbelievable comeback and are just one game away from the Mariners in the AL West. These races for the divisions are wild. But there are also three spots in the Wild Card. Presumably, whoever loses the AL East between the Orioles and Yankees will likely get a place in the Wild Card.
The same can’t be said for the AL West. The Mariners lead the AL West with a 52-46 record, but three other teams with more than 53 wins aren’t leading their division. Therefore, as of now, the second-place team in the AL West wouldn’t make the MLB playoffs.
That said, a lot can change over the next couple of months. Here’s our American League midseason review including the MLB odds.

American League Midseason Betting Analysis
Although the Cleveland Guardians have the best record in the American League, the New York Yankees still have the highest probability per the sportsbooks to win the AL East.
However, the Yankees are just 18-21 since June 1. New York led the AL East for an extended period, but the Orioles eventually leaped over them after going 22-19 since June 1.
The Orioles-Yankees rivalry should be fun down the stretch. Both MLB teams will make significant additions to their teams before the deadline.
On the other hand, the Guardians have been a nearly .500 ball club since the start of June, too. That’s been good enough to stay at the top of the AL Central MLB standings. The Guardians don’t have it easy this year, as the Twins and Royals are currently above .500 and playing well enough to make the playoffs. Cleveland is also in line to make some moves as the deadline, especially at starting pitching.
Lastly, the Mariners were finally caught by a red-hot Astros squad. The Astros had one of the best June’s in baseball and have gone 12 games above .500 since the month began. Earlier in the MLB season today, Houston caught themselves below the Athletics and Angels in the division. But that’s not the case anymore.
American League Previous Winners and Betting Trends
The Houston Astros have won the American League in three of the last five years and have made the AL Championship Series in seven consecutive seasons. Some believed the dynasty was finished once the Astros lost key MLB players like George Springer and Carlos Correa. However, that hasn’t been the case.
The Astros have gone through three different managers during this run, and if they make the playoffs again this year, they will be very dangerous in the American League.
Plus, although the Yankees are favorites to win the AL, New York hasn’t won an AL Championship since 2009.

American League Midseason Betting Picks
The Cleveland Guardians need help at the starting pitcher spot. They lost Shane Bieber earlier in the season and are currently holding a rotation that includes Carlos Carrasco and Ben Lively. It will be hard to win consistently without an ace pitcher.
Tanner Bibee has added a lot of strikeouts recently, but he’s likely not going to be an X-Factor. On the flip side, the Guardians have a fantastic bullpen and an overachieved lineup. Steven Kwan is the American League’s best hitter in terms of average, and the power between Jose Ramirez, Josh Naylor, and David Fry has been fun to watch. Yet, there’s a team in their division that looks better in our American League midseason review.
Minnesota Twins +600
If the Minnesota Twins stay healthy, they’ll be hard to beat in the second half of the season. The lineup has so much power, and the starting rotation has some big names pitched in big moments.
In addition, Brooks Lee is finally in the big leagues and should produce. Jose Miranda, who is on the MLB Injured List, will return soon. He had a ridiculous stretch before the All-Star Break. The Twins are built to win now, and at +600, it’s worth a try.
Consider the Twins in our American League midseason review.
Houston Astros +700
The Houston Astros have made it into the American League Championship seven consecutive times. Even with a 50-46 record, the Astros are getting closer to a playoff spot. As long as the Astros make the playoffs, they’re built to win the entire American League.
They’ve also played some of the best baseball over the last month despite failing to record a win in their previous two games before the All-Star Game.
The Astros are one of our favorite MLB best bets today.
