Atlanta Braves vs. Philadelphia Phillies Odds, Picks and Predictions

Following a 5-3 Atlanta win in the series opener, the Philadelphia Phillies will again face off with the Braves in the City of Brotherly Love on Wednesday. These clubs split their four-game slate the last time they crossed paths, in May.

The Braves (43-32) have won four of six, including a series win against San Francisco. In the MLB standings in the National League East, Atlanta is in second place right now. A lengthy winning surge recently did wonders in helping them gain some ground on the New York Mets, who got off to a great start.

Atlanta idles four games behind them and will have a shot to pull even closer here.

Philadelphia (39-36) has won three of five, most recently a series triumph at San Diego. The Phillies sit in third place in the NL East, four games behind Atlanta and eight behind the Mets. They’ll play one more set within the division after this one — that being against Washington — to close out play in the grouping before the All-Star break.

They’ll hope to use the remainder of this series, and the entirety of that one, to get going.

The Phillies will be without the person who their order orbits around. Designated hitter Bryce Harper had his thumb broken by a pitch, and the injury requires surgery, shelving Philly’s best hitter (.318 average) and RBI man (48).

In his absence, batters such as third baseman Alec Bohm, right fielder Nick Castellanos, and first baseman Rhys Hoskins will have to up their production.

MLB stats show that the Phillies are in the top third of the NL in terms of total runs scored.

Braves vs Phillies Odds

MLB odds appear to like the guests in this matchup of familiar foes. Atlanta is -1.5 on the run line at +118, while the Phillies are -142 to cover the spread.

On the moneyline, the Braves are -142 and Philly a +120 underdog. The total has been set at 8.5 runs, with the over being -106 and the under -114 at the time of this writing.

In their MLB matchups that have led up to this, the Braves have registered a collective batting average of .247. Their power at the plate has been a big driving factor. Atlanta has the most total dingers (113) in the Senior Circuit.

Five different batters have double-digit homers for the team, including third baseman Austin Riley (18), designated hitter Marcell Ozuna (14), and shortstop Dansby Swanson (13).

Braves vs Phillies Betting Preview

Ranger Suarez, a 26-year-old southpaw, will be given the ball for the home team. Philly has come out on the right side of three of his four June starts, the only defeat coming to Arizona.

Since that performance against the Arizona Diamondbacks, in which he gave up four runs in 4.1 innings, Suarez has gone 13 frames, allowing just as many hits.

A showing of at least five innings has been key with him on the hill, being that, when he’s gone that long, the Phillies have won without fail.

So far, has a 6-4 record in 14 starts, pinning up a 4.23 ERA in the meantime.

Opposite him will be Atlanta’s Kyle Wright, who has an 8-4 mark thus far and a 3.18 ERA to go with that.

He faced Philly once this year already, a 6.2-frame appearance on May 26. For the most part, he put up an adequate fight, allowing only three knocks and as many runs.

The Atlanta Braves offense was off that day, providing him with only one run of help.

Atlanta Braves vs Philadelphia Phillies Picks and Predictions

Philadelphia did well against the Padres — who are blazing their own trail in the NL West — despite the loss of their star. It will be a different story here.

With your daily MLB picks today, make sure to take Atlanta to cover the spread. It will take some time for Philly to replace Harper, if they can at all.
