Cardinals vs. Royals Parlay Picks
The St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Royals will begin the first game of a two-game series tonight in Kansas City.
The Cardinals are still in the hunt for an NL Wild Card spot. Meanwhile, the Royals have won seven of their last ten games to get within a game of the American League Wild Card.
This is an interleague matchup. Therefore, these two teams are competing for the same playoff spot. However, both are in tight races and could use two wins over the weekend.
We’ll look at tonight’s game between Cardinals pitcher Miles Mikolas and Royals starter Michael Lorenzen.
The Royals are currently small favorites at -116. Meanwhile, the total reached nine, with the Over juiced to -115.
Sit back and enjoy our Cardinals Royals betting preview for Game 1 of this two-game interleague series.

Cardinals vs. Royals Game Analysis
The St. Louis Cardinals will send out Miles Mikolas. He’s a veteran righty who has a 5.12 ERA on the season. Over the last month, Mikolas has allowed a .284 ISO and wOBA of .422 to 94 batters. He’s still limited walks and has added nearly 45% of ground balls.
However, his hard contact allowed to righties has reached nearly 35% over the last month. In addition, Mikolas has only struck out 11.7% of batters in the previous 30 days. Only 7.8% of righties in that span have returned to the dugout after being called out on strikes.
On the other hand, Michael Lorenzen will pitch for the Royals. He’s a righty who came to Kansas City before the trade deadline. Lorenzen added depth to the starting rotation. However, over the last month, he’s struggled against lefties.
Lorenzen has given up a .226 ISO and wOBA of .380 to his last 37 lefties. He’s also only struck out 191% of batters in the previous 30 days.
That said, the right-hander has at least shut down other righties, giving up a .140 ISO and just 7% of walks over the last month to righties.
With these two pitchers, it’s anyone’s game. It just stinks that we’re only getting two games this weekend from these teams. How does the MLB schedule work, you might ask? Sometimes, we have no answers.

Cardinals vs. Royals Odds
The Royals are favorites at home. They’ve been more consistent over the last month. On the other hand, you’ll see that the total is nine and the Over has reached -115. With two inconsistent pitchers who have struggled recently, that makes sense.

Cardinals vs. Royals Betting Analysis & Final Overview
Miles Mikolas has struggled against both sides of the plate. The Royals ultimately have more potential on paper. After all, Kansas City has six batters with a high ISO and seven batters with an above-average wOBA against righties over the last month.
All seven batters in the Royals’ lineup matchup well against Mikolas. Mikolas has given up a .333 ISO and wOBA of .343 to his last 43 lefties and has watched his previous 51 righties hit a .239 ISO and wOBA of .488.
Bobby Witt Jr. stands out the most in the lineup. He’s a righty who has crushed a .266 ISO and wOBA of .430 all season against righties. He’s also struck out just 15.9% of the time against righties this year. He’ll be in line for a massive game against Mikolas, especially since Mikolas has allowed nearly 35% of hard contact to his last 51 righties faced.
Meanwhile, Lorenzen has struggled against lefties a bit. St. Louis has a few lefties that have hit righties well this season. But the guy who stands out the most is Alec Burleson. He’s smacked a .226 ISO and wOBA of .379 with only 12.4% of strikeouts against righties this season.
Overall, the Cardinals collectively have hit a .157 ISO and woBA of .306 throughout the season against righties using the projected lineup. It’s nothing to rave about and certainly isn’t better than the Royals.
Therefore, we’ll create a parlay for Bobby Witt Jr. to add at least 1.5 total bases, Alec Burleson to earn at least 1.5 total bases, and the Royals to win outright. Those MLB odds are +528 to conclude tonight’s Cardinals-Royals betting preview.
