With just a couple weeks until the MLB Trade Deadline, the next two weeks will determine for some teams whether they will be buyers or sellers. With so much riding on the MLB games today, this is a great opportunity to put some bets together into a parlay.
It is not a full MLB schedule on Monday, with only 10 games on the docket. Let’s take a look at some of the MLB parlays today that you should consider.
Miami Marlins vs. St. Louis Cardinals
One of the best MLB bets today comes as the Miami Marlins (53-42) take on the St. Louis Cardinals (40-53). The Cardinals will host this at Busch Stadium, with first pitch scheduled for 7:45 pm ET.
The Cardinals are the favorites with odds of -118, but the Marlins at +108 is a great start to your MLB parlays today.
A reason they are one of several strong MLB picks is their starter Jesus Luzardo. The 25-year-old lefty is 8-5 in 19 games with a 3.29 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and he has 129 strikeouts in 109.1 innings. In his last three MLB games, he has allowed just two earned runs in 18.2 innings.
St. Louis will counter with righty Miles Mikolas. In 20 games, the 34-year-old righty is 5-5 with a 4.12 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, and he has struck out 80 in 115.2 innings.
The Marlins have struggled a bit offensively as they rank 23rd overall in scoring, averaging 4.18 runs per game. They are led by Luis Arraez, who is hitting an impressive .380/.431/.468 slash line.
Overall, the Marlins rank second in the NL East with a 53-42 record, 9.5 games behind the Atlanta Braves. The Cardinals rank dead last in the NL Central, 11.5 games behind the Milwaukee Brewers. The Cardinals also have the third-worst record in the National League and are just 19-26 when playing at home.
- Expect Luzardo to throw a gem and for the Marlins to win at +108.
New York Yankees vs. Los Angeles Angels
The Los Angeles Angels might be just 46-48 entering play Monday, but there is a lot of value in them winning at home in this opener of a three-game set. They will host this one at Angel Stadium, where they are 24-22 this year.
At 50-44, the Yankees sit six games above .500, but they sit tied for dead last in the MLB standings in the AL East, nine games behind the Tampa Bay Rays. The Yankees have struggled a bit lately as they have gone just 4-6 in their last 10 games, but that gives them a lot of value in this one.
The Angels are the slight favorites in this MLB game playing at home. They are -115 to win, while the Yankees’ moneyline sits at +105.
This one boils down to the pitching. While the Angels’ Griffin Canning (6-4, 4.62 ERA) is far from superior, he has been much better than the Yankees’ Luis Severino as of late. In his last two games, Severino has given up 14 earned runs on 19 hits in a combined 6.2 innings of work.
This could be especially appealing to superstar Shohei Ohtani, who is the American League favorite in terms of MLB MVP odds. In 355 at-bats, he is hitting .301/.386/.665 with 34 home runs, 73 runs batted in, 67 runs scored, and 11 stolen bases.
- Expect Severino to continue his struggles and for the Angels to win straight up at -115.
Tampa Bay Rays vs. Texas Rangers
The last game to look at for MLB parlays today is an American League matchup of division leaders as the Tampa Bay Rays (60-36, 1st in the AL East) take on the Texas Rangers (55-39, 1st in AL West). The Rangers will host this one at Globe Life Field, with the first pitch scheduled for 8:05 pm ET.
A reason this is one of the best MLB picks is the return of lefty ace Shane McClanahan. In 17 games, he went 11-1 with a 2.53 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, with 101 strikeouts in 96 innings.
McClanahan will match up with Dane Dunning, who has gone 8-2 in 20 games for the Rangers. He has a 2.84 ERA and 1.13 WHIP.
While the Texas Rangers have struggled a bit lately, going 3-7 in their last 10 games, McClanahan is the type of player that can help get them back on track.
This matchup features two of the best offenses and defenses. The Rangers are the highest-scoring offense in MLB, averaging 5.86 runs per game. The Rays rank fourth, averaging 5.43 runs per game.
Defensively, the Tampa Bay Rays sit atop the rankings, allowing opponents an average of just 3.79 runs per game. The Rangers rank seventh in scoring defense, allowing an average of 4.16 runs per game.
With McClanahan back, the Rays are the favorites in this one, with odds of -125. The Rangers’ moneyline sits at +115.
- Take the Rays to win at -125.
To recap, take the Marlins +108, the Angels -115, and the Rays at -125 in your MLB parlays today.
