With very limited success as of late, the Los Angeles Angels will make a short trip over to make acquaintance with the Los Angeles Dodgers in interleague play Tuesday night.
This will be the first of a short, two-game set. We should be in for one of the most exciting MLB matchups of the day.
The Dodgers (37-23) have also hit a rough patch, losing six of eight. They are tied in the MLB standings with San Diego for the lead in the National League West following a sweep at the hands of San Francisco over the weekend.
As for the Halos (29-33), it wouldn’t be surprising if they’re still trying to shake off the shell shock that came with a historically long losing skid. Their win in the middle game of a series with the New York Mets was bookended by a pair of losses. The Angels have fallen into third place in the American League West.
Center fielder Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani have shouldered a lot of the productive load for the Halos. Trout leads with a .293 batting average and 16 home runs, while Ohtani has 37 runs driven in.
Trout has also gone 7-for-12 at the dish over the past week, making averages like Jo Adell’s (.400) and Ohtani’s (.375) look like easier work.
Right fielder Taylor Ward has been swinging the bat well away from Anaheim. He is the owner of a .318 batting average in such instances. Third baseman Anthony Rendon’s number in that category is just a tick lower.
Angels at Dodgers Odds
MLB odds like the Dodgers to get back in the win column. The Dodgers are -1.5 on the run line at +104, while the Angels are written down as -125 to cover the spread.
On the moneyline, the Dodgers are -200 and the Angels a +168 underdog. The total has been set at nine runs, with the over being -104 and the under -118 at the time of this writing.
MLB betting trends look at the Dodgers’ prowess on the hill, first and foremost. The hosts of this tilt have a 3.06 team ERA, the best in the NL. Their 1.10 WHIP is also top in the Senior Circuit.
In the batter’s box, four regulars have a batting average of .278 or better. Shortstop Trea Turner (.298) leads that pack, which also includes left fielder Gavin Lux, first baseman Freddie Freeman, and right fielder Mookie Betts.
Turner also paces the crew with 46 runs driven in, while Betts has 16 homers. The duo is doing particularly well at Chavez Ravine, as they’re both swinging for .298 marks at home.

Angels at Dodgers Betting Preview
The Dodgers will offer up Tony Gonsolin on the mound. The right-hander has an impressive 7-0 record while also turning in a 1.58 ERA.
His team has won six of his last seven outings, including his most recent effort, against the Chicago White Sox.
Gonsolin has been able to pitch for six innings in each of his last five times out. In a dozen frames in June, he’s given up five hits and only one run. If the home team can get similar stuff from him, it will be pleased.
For the Angels, Noah Syndergaard has had mixed results during this campaign. He has a 4-4 record, and although he likely won’t return to the form many remember him pitching with earlier in his career, this contest could be a huge confidence boost.
Two starts ago, against Texas, Syndergaard went eight innings and allowed only one run across.
That’s the sort of showing he’ll need to duplicate against a stacked order.
Los Angeles Angels at Los Angeles Dodgers Picks and Predictions
MLB picks today should lean toward the home team to make handy work of their cross-town opponents. The Dodgers have done too well at home, and it will take a lot for Syndergaard to keep them in check.
In a star-powered matchup, take the Dodgers to cover the spread when betting on baseball Tuesday.
