The Red Sox are Favored
The Boston Red Sox are reeling. They’ve lost seven of their last ten games and are currently 6.5 games out of the AL East.
Boston is still in position for the playoffs. However, they’ll probably want to make some moves before the MLB Trade Deadline. After all, they’re in a competitive division with the Baltimore Orioles and New York Yankees.
Tonight, they’ll begin a new series against the Seattle Mariners.
The Mariners are ultimately in the same boat as the Red Sox. Seattle has gone just 4-6 in its last ten games and has lost sole possession of first place in the AL West to the Houston Astros. They already made a blockbuster move to add Randy Arozarena. But we’ll see if they have more plans before the deadline.
Although Seattle has its All-Star pitcher on the mound tonight, the Red Sox are favorites to win Game 1. Boston is -120 on the moneyline, with the total sitting at 8.5. However, the Over is juiced to -115.
Below are our favorite Mariners-Red Sox matchup bets for tonight’s game.
Mariners vs Red Sox Betting Analysis
The Seattle Mariners will send out Logan Gilbert to the mound. Gilbert earned an All-Star appearance this season, but he’s struggled against lefties over the last month.
Gilbert has only struck out 15.2% of lefties over the last 30 days. He’s also allowed a .209 ISO with 38.9% of fly balls and just 30.6% of ground balls. This is an area where the Red Sox can make some noise. After all, Boston’s offense has smashed a .260 ISO and wOBA of .392 against righties over the last month. It has a ton of left-handed power against righties.
On the other hand, the Mariners have some power, too. They typically struggle against flame throwers like Nick Pivetta.
Pivetta has struck out 37.4% of batters over the last month. Meanwhile, the Mariners have struck out 29.1% of the time using their projected lineup in the previous 30 days.
Pivetta has allowed some power to righties over the last 30 days. But he’s limited walks well and has allowed a .151 ISO and wOBA of .279 against his previous 91 batters. He’s performed better than Gilbert over the last month.

Mariners vs. Red Sox Betting Preview & Updates
The Mariners earned a sweep against the White Sox and scored at least six runs in all three of those matchups. They’re the hotter team coming into this series. However, they had struggled against other teams before facing the lowly White Sox.
Meanwhile, Boston lost its last two games and allowed at least seven runs in all three games against the Yankees in their home series. Boston’s pitching needs to improve for it to succeed in the MLB standings throughout the second half.

Mariners Analysis
Is Randy Arozarena All The Mariners Will Get?
The Seattle Mariners made one of the biggest splashes before the MLB Trade Deadline with the addition of Randy Arozarena. They also sent prospects Aidan Smith, Brody Hopkins, and a player to be named later. However, it doesn’t seem like the Mariners are done adding players, with the deadline scheduled for tomorrow.
Eventually, Julio Rodriguez and J.P. Crawford will come off the MLB injury report, too.

Red Sox Analysis
Boston Making Moves
The Boston Red Sox acquired Danny Jansen from the Toronto Blue Jays and designated Reese McGuire for assignment. This move is one of many the Red Sox will make to make a playoff push in the second half of the season.
Betting Trend
- A $100 bettor has lost $451 over the last ten games when betting on the Red Sox on the moneyline.
Mariners vs Red Sox Betting Prediction
The Mariners certainly have some power numbers against righties. But those power numbers don’t matter when a team can’t make consistent contact.
Seattle’s lineup has hit a .208 ISO but has also struck out 29.1% of the time against righties over the last month. If Seattle faced a pitcher who doesn’t add a high rate of strikeouts, they’d be gold. But that won’t be the case tonight. They’ll face Nick Pivetta tonight, who has struck out more than 37% of batters over the last month.
Let’s rely on the Red Sox lefties against Logan Gilbert and back the Red Sox at -120. Good luck with all of your MLB best picks!
