The American League is currently on a nine-game win streak, as the last time that the National League won the MLB All Stars game was 2012 (there was no All-Star game in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic).
Last year, the American League won 3-2 over the National League. In the victory, Framber Valdez picked up the win, while Giancarlo Stanton was the MVP.
National League at American League Betting Analysis
As we hit the midsummer break in the MLB schedule, players from around the majors will come to Seattle to try to represent their respective leagues. While the game itself doesn’t hold the same postseason implications it once did, pride will still be on the line for these players.
AL West Dominates American League Lineup
When looking at the American League starting lineup, the first thing that stands out is the abundance of AL West players, especially Texas Rangers players. In total, they have four starters, including Corey Seager, Josh Jung, Marcus Semien, and Jonah Heim.
It isn’t surprising to see such a good showing, as the Rangers are off to a hot start. Examining the MLB standings, they lead the AL West by two games.
The biggest draw for the American League, though, also comes from the AL West in the form of the Angels’ Shohei Ohtani. Looking at his MLB player stats, he is hitting .302/.387/.663 with 32 home runs, 71 runs batted in, 63 runs scored, and 11 stolen bases.
While Ohtani likely won’t pitch due to a blister issue, aces from several other MLB teams are options like the Yankees’ Gerrit Cole, the Mariners’ Luis Castillo, or the Twins’ Sonny Gray.
National League Boasts Deep Lineup
When considering the National League for any MLB All Star Game predictions, the first thing that stands out is the depth and balance of their lineup.
Players like Freddie Freeman, Ronald Acuna Jr, Mookie Betts, Nolan Arenado, and Luis Arraez have all had sensational seasons and will start for the National League.
Acuna Jr, in particular, has had a sensational start to the year. In 89 games, he is hitting .331/.408/.582 with 21 home runs, 55 runs batted in, 79 runs scored, and 41 stolen bases. He is part of the reason that the Atlanta Braves are one of the best MLB picks to win it all this year.
On the mound, pitchers like the Diamondbacks’ Zac Gallen, the Cubs’ Justin Steele, or the Pirates’ Mitch Keller will look to help the National League break their current losing streak.
Updates
Before making an All-Star Game betting prediction, it is essential to look at the MLB injury report. Unfortunately for the American League, elected starters like Mike Trout and Aaron Judge are out as they currently are on the injured list.
The National League is not quite as impacted by injuries, but reserve Dansby Swanson and pitcher Clayton Kershaw will be out for this one.

National League at American League Betting Prediction
While the American League has dominated as of late, this might be the year that the National League can break through. Their lineup is far healthier, and there is certainly more balance to it from top to bottom.
Relief pitching can also be crucial in All-Star games, as no pitcher usually goes for more than an inning or two. With that said, the National League has a dominant bullpen with the likes of Alexis Diaz, Josh Hader, and David Bednar.
This one will likely be close throughout, but our All-Star Game betting prediction has the National League coming out victorious in this one. Take the National League to win straight up at -102.
- Pick: National League -102
