Divisional competitors will bump into one another and commence their third series of the season when the Baltimore Orioles play host to the New York Yankees at Camden Yards Monday night.
The home team Orioles seek to rebound from a three-game sweep at the hands of Detroit. They’re returning from a six-game road swing in which they dropped four. As it stands, Baltimore has a 14-21 record and rests in fourth place in the American League East.
In the outset, the Yankees have been one of the best teams in the major leagues. Boasting a 25-9 mark, they’ve come out on top in six of their last seven. New York sits perched atop the division standings.
The Yanks possess some impressive power. Three Bronx batters – right fielder Aaron Judge, designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton, and first baseman Anthony Rizzo – have combined to belt
31 home runs. Each of them ranks within the top five in that category in the MLB, with Judge leading the pack.
As a whole, New York currently has a .242 batting average, which is the AL’s third best. Judge (.296) and Stanton (.290) are their group’s standard-bearers in that regard, as well.
Judge has argued his worth by having New York’s top on-base percentage and most total hits, too.
Yankees at Orioles Odds
MLB odds have the Yankees as the favorites in this matchup, which comes as little surprise with how much pop is in their bats. New York is -1.5 on the run line at -118, while the Orioles are -102 to cover the spread.
On the money line, the Yankees are -210 and Baltimore +176 underdogs. The total has been set at 8.5 runs, with the over being -104 and the under -118 same at the time of this writing.
The O’s have posted an ordinary .228 team average at the dish. Left fielder Austin Hays (.291) and designated hitter Trey Mancini (.289) pace the offense.
They’ll need a little more help to put some cracks in the New York pitching staff, which is tied with the Los Angeles Dodgers as having the lowest collective ERA in baseball. They’ve been able to keep opposing homers to a minimum also.
Let’s take a look at the MLB picks today for this clash.
Matchup Information
Yankees at Orioles Betting Preview
The visiting crew will give the baseball to Luis Severino, a righty who’s in his seventh season with the club. His performances haven’t yet failed the Yankees this campaign, as they’ve won each of the half-dozen starts he’s made.
So far, he’s turned in a 4.08 ERA and a 2-0 record. Against Toronto last Tuesday, he punched out eight challengers, the most he’s had in a game this year.
Baltimore will put Kyle Bradish on the hill. He’ll gladly put up a showing much like his last. He allowed four knocks and K’d 11 in seven innings of work against St. Louis.
Bradish has allowed only a pair of earned runs in two of his three starts in 2022. He has a 4.24 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP.
Yankees at Orioles Betting Predictions
Baltimore took two of three from the Yankees as they still got their legs under them in mid-April. New York struck back by sweeping the Orioles in the three-game bill that followed at the end of last month.
Bradish recently threw well against the Cardinals, who haven’t had much trouble hitting. That being said, St. Louis doesn’t have the same ability to go yard that New York does. Not many teams have had an answer for the Yankees, who have been defeated less than anybody up until now.
Having Severino on the mound has boded well for the Bronx Bombers, who scored 27 runs in three games the last time these teams gathered. New York’s run of success won’t be halted in this one.
Choosing a winner here shouldn’t be too hard. MLB betting trends will hold true while the Yankees win outright and cover the spread.
