Game Preview with Pick
The Philadelphia Phillies will take on the Minnesota Twins for a three-game interleague series starting today with our expert Phillies Twins betting odds.
The Phillies and Twins are both on the trajectory of making the playoffs. The Phillies lead the NL East by 8.5 games, while the Twins are five games back in the AL Central. However, with a 54-44 record, the Minnesota Twins are in line to at least earn a Wild Card spot.
That said, the American League is super competitive. If the Twins struggle just one week, they could find themselves out of contention for the playoffs. Every series is crucial, especially now that we’re in the second half of the MLB season.
On the road, the Phillies are a -109 favorite for the first game of this series. Meanwhile, the total is 8, with the Over juiced to -120.
Let’s take a deeper dive into the Phillie Twins MLB picks and parlays.

- Ranger Suarez had a terrific start to the season. But he’s not pitching like he had been. Suarez’s strikeouts are down, and his hard contact allowed has been up for the last 30 days.
- Bailey Ober has dominated righties more than at the start of the season. He’s only given up 17.5% of line drives over the last 30 days, resulting in many batters not getting on base.
Team Analysis
Philadelphia Phillies
The Phillies will get some starter depth soon. Spencer Turnbull and Taijuan Walker have started to throw as rehab assignments.
It’ll be interesting to see if the Phillies make Walker or Turnbull the last starter when both are healthy. The Phillies could also decide on a pitcher at the MLB Trade Deadline and move both to the bullpen.
A blockbuster move would make the standings in the MLB interesting, especially for the Phillies.
Minnesota Twins
The Twins are playing without Carlos Correa (heel), Jose Miranda (back), Royce Lewis (adductor), Kyle Farmer (shoulder), and Alex Kiriloff (back) and are still in playoff contention.
Given all of these injuries, should the Twins be a part of our MLB bets today? The answer is below!
The Twins Don’t Strike Out
The Minnesota Twins’ projected lineup has struck out only 11.8% of the time against lefties over the last 30 days.
The Twins’ lineup has some new names and faces due to the latest MLB injuries.
Manuel Margot, Willi Castro, Byron Buxton, Carlos Santana, and Christian Vasquez have all hit a high ISO and wOBA against lefties over the last 30 days. Additionally, every batter but Diego Castillo has hit a wOBA of at least .338 against lefties over the previous month.
They’ll take on lefty Ranger Suarez, who, again, hasn’t been anything special recently. He’s still inducing a high rate of grounders but has allowed a .181 ISO and wOBA of .378 with only 16.7% of strikeouts over the last month.
Suarez hasn’t allowed a fly ball to a lefty in the last 30 days. However, the Twins will probably add a lineup of nine righties.
Those nine righties have struck out 11.8% of the time against lefties over the last 30 days. Ultimately, Suarez will give up hard contact and likely won’t add many strikeouts. That gives Minnesota an advantage offensively.
Bailey Ober Is Coming Around
While Ranger Suarez has earned much praise this season, it feels like Bailey Ober has gone underappreciated.
Over the last month, Ober has struck out 33% of batters and has held his previous 100 batters to 4% of walks. In addition, Ober has limited teams to a .246 wOBA over the last 30 days and has allowed just 17.5% of line drives.
Ober has been so good that he’s added 31.9% of whiffs and 17.9% of swinging strikes.
He’ll compete against a Phillies lineup with five batters with a strikeout rate of at least 21% over the last month. The Phillies’ projected lineup hasn’t added a high rate of walks and still has a few hitters with low ISO and wOBA numbers.
Therefore, after looking at the Phillies Twins betting odds, the Twins, at home, are more appealing, especially as underdogs. Take the Twins at -101 on the moneyline.
