Home Run Leader Candidates
Shohei Ohtani +275
The 28-year-old from Japan is having just a fantastic season with the bat, and on the mound. The bat is where he is making a massive impact, with just 24 home runs on the season. There was talk of Ohtani being shipped during this season to another team, but the way the Angels are playing, that does not appear to be an option. Ohtani is the favorite to finish the season with the most home runs hit.
Pete Alonso +500
Alonso has missed some time this season, but leads the National League in Home Run leader odds with 22 on the season. Second most in the NL is Jorge Soler of the Miami Marlins. Alonso is on a Mets squad with highly predicted MLB team stats that has been a massive disappointment this season. Some wonder if pitchers won’t look to pitch around Alonso a little more during the second half of the season. The Polar Bear is listed at +500 to finish with the most home runs.
Matt Olson +600
Matt Olson is the top homerun hitter in MLB player stats for the top team in the National League. The Atlanta Braves are playing great baseball, and Olson is huge part of that. The 29-year-old from Atlanta is a big powerful lefty in the middle of a dynamic offense. Olson will likely not win this, as he does not have the pure power these other guys have. But, what he does have is a great bat, and a team that is going to be tough to get outs on all season long.
Kyle Schwarber +600
If you want to talk about a big strong, powerful man that can hit the ball out of the ballpark – that’s Kyle Schwarber. This guy is a man that really only hits for power. In fact, his batting average this season has been horrific. Schwarber, though is a tough test every time he comes to the plate due to his potential of smacking a baseball out of the stadium. Schwarber has good betting odds at +600.
Aaron Judge +1000
Probably the biggest Home Run leader odds threat in all of Major League Baseball – Aaron Judge. Judge is currently out, and will likely miss some more time before he returns. The Yankee slugger has 19 on the season, and has played in just 49 games. The biggest question mark here is – can he play enough games to hit the amount of needs to be leader? As of now, it looks like no, but that’s also why his odds are listed at +1000.
Mike Trout +1400
Teammates with Shohei Ohtani, this one seems like it’s quite a reach to bet. That’s why the odds currently sit at +1400. Trout has just 15 homeruns on the season, which is tied in 16th throughout the lead. This guy can get hot, and we know he has some serious power, but being able to catch the guys in front, and winning this award does not seem to be in the cards. Betting Trout at +1400 is a pure gamble.
