Favorites to Win the American League
Houston Astros +400
Joe Espada is in as the manager of the Houston Astros. The 48-year-old takes over for Dusty Baker. He will still have a very talented squad that won the American League West a season ago. Losing to the divisional and state rivals obviously put a damper on their season, but this team is ready to go for 2024. The Astros signed bullpen help with Josh Hader coming over, and the lineup that has been a force for years remains in tack for the Astros. They are the favorites to win the American League at 400 odds.
New York Yankees +450
The Yankees are second in terms of betting odds to win the American League. New York added Juan Soto and Alex Verdugo to the lineup. This is a team that is going to hit. There were questions about their starting rotation, but the addition of Marcus Stroman, who should be their #3 behind Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rodon makes them very formidable. This is going to be a very good Yankees team and should be back as favorites in an extremely tough American League East. New York is listed at +450.
Texas Rangers +550
The defending World Series Champions brought back most of their squad. The Rangers will still feature Corey Seager, Adolis Garcia and Josh Jung in the middle of their lineup. The rotation will still feature Nathan Eovaldi, Jon Gray, and Andrew Heaney. This is still going to be a really good baseball team. It’s a little surprising they are third when looking at the: Who Will Win the American League Futures. The Rangers are at +550 odds.
Baltimore Orioles +750
The Orioles were a breakout team in 2023. Gunnar Henderson, Adley Rutschman, Anthony Santander, and company were very good. Will Jackson Holliday fit into the mix as a left-handed hitting shortstop? He is the odds-on favorite to win the Rookie of the Year award in the American League. The question for Baltimore will be their pitching. Can Kyle Bradishk, Grayson Rodriguez, John Means and Dean Kremer keep up on a tough American League East? The Orioles are listed at +750 to win the American League.
Toronto Blue Jays +850
Still one of the best lineups in all of Major League Baseball. The Blue Jays have five guys in the middle of their lineup drafted by them. Vladimir Guerrero Jr is being talked about as a potential MVP candidate in the American League with Ohtani moving to the National League. Kevin Gausman still leads the charge for the starting rotation. He finished with a 3.16 earned run average a season ago. The Toronto Blue Jays start the season at +850 to win the American League.
Minnesota Twins +900
The Twins get the advantage here, because they are in a division where it will not take as much effort to win it. The Cleveland Guardians, Chicago White Sox, Kansas City Royals and Detroit Tigers may not even reach .500. The Twins are the biggest favorites of any divisional favorite. This is not a bad baseball team with eight of the nine guys projected in the lineup drafted by Minnesota Twins. They could use a healthy productive season from Byron Buxton to really get their full potential. Minnesota had one of the best starting rotations in the league last year, anchored by Pablo Lopez and Joe Ryan. The Twins are sixth in the odds, as they start the season at +900.
