[June 21, 2022] As we get closer to PFL 5 on Friday night inside Overtime Elite Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, we have a main-event heavyweight fight between Bruno Cappelozza and Matheus Scheffel.
The odds are leaning for this to be a huge one-sided fight, but that’s why it happens inside of the cage and not on paper. Let’s dive into the MMA odds and look at both fighters to determine where we should be betting here.
Last Rights Records
Bruno Cappelozza is sitting with a 15-5 career record and coming off a TKO victory on April 28 against Stuart Austin. Matheus Scheffel is 15-8 and last fought on April 28 as he lost via TKO in the second round against Ante Delija.
Cappelozza vs Scheffel Betting Analysis
Observing the betting lines within a few days before the fight, Bruno Cappelozza is considered the consensus favorite, sitting at around -500 odds wherever you look. However, there is a lot of value that can be made by betting the underdog as the consensus odds as Scheffel is considered to be +345 to win here.
Bruno Cappelozza
Bruno Cappelozza has been arguably the best pound-for-pound heavyweight fighter in the PFL, with an outstanding 15-5 career record entering this fight. He is entering the cage on a five-fight winning streak after a dominant first-round TKO win over Stuart Austin.
He has been one of the greatest strikers in the PFL, regardless of weight class, as he has won all but a single fight by means of a knockout. Cappelozza does not work very methodically either, as three of his previous four knockouts have come within the first round.
The other was 90 seconds into the second. You don’t want to be away from seeing the fight as soon as it begins because Cappelozza makes it end in a blink of an eye.
Matheus Scheffel
Matheus “Buffa” Scheffel is one of the more solid heavyweights in the Professional Fighting Championship but needs to snap out of his recent funk. He is 1-2 in his previous three fights, with all three fights ending within the first two rounds. As we touched upon earlier, his last fight was his PFL debut, and he left some things on the table as he was dominated early in the second round.
Scheffel is an incredible striker inside of the cage, as 11 of his 15 career wins have come from a knockout (73 percent). He doesn’t give opponents any chance for victory, as all his knockout victories have come in the first round. Don’t expect this fight to go the distance if Scheffel is bringing his A-game strikes.
Updates
Neither side has indicated any injuries as there has not been anything reported from either camp before the fight. This should be as healthy and focused as either fighter has been entering the cage here.
