The Hana Bank Seoul E-Prix will take place the weekend of August 13th in Seoul, South Korea. These two races will be the last two of the year and will force an exciting championship showdown between Stoffel Vandoorne (155 points) and Edoardo Mortara (144 points).
Hana Bank Seoul E-Prix Drivers’ Expectations
Only 11 points separate these two fierce competitors, and it all comes down to rounds 15 and 16 in Seoul. Moratara has finished in the championship in second place before.
Last season he did not finish the final race of the season, forcing him to lose by seven points in the Championship.
Mortara has been on a mission to avenge that loss all season and has put together three victories so far this year.
The Swiss-born driver will have to push himself to win at least one of the races this weekend if he hopes to win his first Formula E championship.

There’s a lot going on, so be sure to read all the way to the end for my 2022 Hana Bank Seoul E-Prix Betting Picks.
Top Formula E Drivers Stats
Stoffel Vandoorne and Edoardo Mortara are currently the top two drivers in the Formula E standings. Vandoorne is in the lead with six podiums and one win, while Moratara has only five podiums, but two are wins and one is a second-place finish.
Formula E Standings
The last two races in London resulted in much better results for Vandoorne than for Mortara, and Mortara will need to bounce back in Seoul if he hopes to win the championship.
Vandoorne finished fourth and second in London, cementing his Championship lead over the field. Mortara had an abysmal two rounds in London, posting ninth and eighth in those two races.
Drivers Performance Recap
Before London, Mortara had posted four straight Podium finishes including two victories. The Formula E odds currently have Vandoorne as a -175 favorite to win the championship with Mortara coming back at +350.
Slightly behind these two is Mitch Evans, an Australian driver who has been nipping at the heels of the leaders all year.
Evans is unlikely to win the Championship this year, but he sits only five points behind Mortara and could make a run at a second place pretty easily.
Evans has posted three podiums, including a victory, in his last four races. If he can win both races in Seoul, he may even have a chance to steal the Drivers Championship. He is currently a +400 underdog to win it all.
Stoffel Vandoorne Stats
Vandoorne is an extremely consistent driver. He only has one win in 12 races this year, but he’s finished in the top five in nine of those 12. His worst finishes this year are seventh, eighth, and 11th.
His 11th place finish is the only race all year in which he did not score points, a very impressive record. Every other driver this season has at least two races where they finished with 0 points.
Where the Vandoorne Stands at the Betting Odds?
Vandoorne has been the betting favorite practically all season long. Early in the season, he was around +250, but as the season went on and he continued to perform, it went up.
Before the last two rounds in London Vandoorne was -145, and is now up to -175 on most sportsbooks. Statistically, this is a good bet, as it’s unlikely Vandoorne will not finish in the points in both races.
The last time Vandoorne finished second, he returned the next two rounds with a fifth and a first place finish. If he can secure those results in Seoul, he should be locked in as the Formula E 2022 World Champion.
Edoardo Mortara Stats
Edoardo Mortara is a Swiss driver born in Geneva. His Formula E debut was way back in 2017, but he has shown the last two years that he is a very legitimate competitor.
Last season Mortara finished in second place in the standings behind Nick De Vries. Vandoorne finished ninth in the standings last season.
Mortara’s Losings Streaks Against Vandoorne
Mortara has beaten Vandoorne as many times as he’s been beaten by Vandoorne this year. They are even in head-to-head matchups this year and are fighting closer than ever right now.
Mortara finished ninth and tenth in the last two rounds in London. He clearly needs to improve on that if he has any hope for winning the Championship this season.
Edoardo Mortara vs Stoffel Vandoorne Race and Bet Trends
- Stoffel Vandoorne has nine top 5 finishes this year. Mortara only has six.
- In 12 races this season, Vandoorne and Mortara are 6-6 head-to-head.
- Vandoorne has six podium finishes this year but only one win.
- Mortara has three wins this season but only five podium finishes.
- Vandoorne has been the betting favorite almost all season.
2022 Hana Bank Seoul E-Prix Betting Picks
The Formula E odds have favored Vandoorne all season, and they continue to favor him because of his smooth and consistent driving.
Vandoorne has finished in the top ten in every race but one this season and continues to dominate almost every time he’s out on track. Even at -175, I love Vandoorne to win one of the rounds this weekend and to win the Championship.
Who to Bet On?
Mitch Evans (+400) and Edoardo Mortara (+350) both also have opportunities to win and steal the championship lead, but Vandoorne has been driving so consistently and so efficiently that I doubt either of them will upset him this year.
Vandoorne just needs two Podium finishes to secure his season victory, and I highly expect that to happen.
Formula E Pick: Stoffel Vandoorne to win (-175)
