Back to Circuit Zandvoort!
The Dutch Grand Prix returns to circuit Zandvoort this weekend for its second race since 1985. The Dutch Grand Prix was a staple of the F1 calendar until 1985 and only recently has returned to the schedule.
Max Verstappen won this race, his home race, last season and looks to do it again this year.
Dutch Grand Prix Betting Picks
The Dutch GP is a fun and exciting race, and right now, the championship looks out of reach for everyone not in a Red Bull.
That being said, there are a few chances for drivers to surpass expectations this weekend. Let’s take a quick look at some of my Dutch Grand Prix picks.
Max Verstappen to Win -175
Red Bull has the fastest car on the track, and Max Verstappen is the best driver on the track. It’s that simple. Max won from 14th position last weekend and won the race by more than 17 seconds. He is just that good.
Sergio Perez to Podium -150
It’s blatant and obvious that Red Bull has the best car right now. The pace that the RB18 had in Belgium was undeniable, and it will carry on in the Netherlands.
I expect Checo to have a good race and finish on the podium for the second weekend in a row. This is my favorite Dutch Grand Prix Pick for this weekend.
Lewis Hamilton’s Top 6 Finish (-400)
A -400 F1 odds pick is usually not my style, but in this case, I find it to be a welcome line. Lewis Hamilton had his first DNF of the season last weekend, and I know Lewis will not make another mistake this weekend.
I expect Lewis to remain calm and work towards the front of the grid without making mistakes. The top six should be one of the better Dutch Grand Prix picks, especially right after a DNF.
Formula One 2022 Race Trends
Carlos Sainz Jr. to Have Pole Fastest Lap (+550)
This trend is very obscure, but it’s held up for six races in a row. The fastest lap in the past six races have gone like this:
- Sainz
- Hamilton
- Verstappen
- Sainz
- Hamilton
- Verstappen
By that trend, Sainz is up next. I’ll take that trend to continue at +550.
Max Verstappen to Win (-175)
Verstappen has won three straight races, has the fastest car in Formula 1, and is currently favored as a -175 favorite according to the F1 odds.
I have been very adamant all season on betting Verstappen at anything under -200, and I stand by it. Max has won nine of 14 races this season and has been my favorite F1 betting pick all year.
Lewis Hamilton to Podium (+160)
Hamilton had a tough race last weekend, crashing out on lap 1 in an incident that he admitted was his fault. I expect Hamilton to come back with a vengeance and race very smartly in Zandvoort. With the F1 odds at +160, I really like this F1 betting pick for this weekend.
Max Verstappen Pole Position (-165)
Verstappen has been dominant all year and, as I’ve said before, has the fastest car on the track. I fully believe he will earn another pole position this weekend at a track he is great at.
Charles Leclerc Top 6 Finish (-500)
This is a tough one because Leclerc is having a brutal middle section of his season. He started off so fantastically and has had great qualifying times but has had trouble with team strategy and car reliability.
He has not finished on the podium in three races, and I’m not sure if he’ll be able to do it this weekend. As for F1 betting picks, I do expect him to finish top 6, though.
Formula One Dutch Grand Prix Betting Pick
One of the better Dutch Grand Prix picks is Sergio ‘Checo’ Perez to podium this weekend. I am fully confident in Verstappen’s ability to win, and I back that pick too, but Perez has been very clean and consistent, and the line is a little bit more appealing.
Perez is quick as ever in the RB18, and the F1 odds have him at -150 to the podium. Perez finished 8th here last year, so I expect him to bounce back with a vengeance and finish on the podium this year.
Who to Bet On?
Perez has finished on the podium in 7 of 14 races this year, but only one of his last three. I believe he’ll be chasing that podium closely in this race in order to further extend his lead on Charles Leclerc, as well as Red Bull’s lead over Ferrari.
Dutch Grand Prix Pick: Sergio Perez to Podium (-150)
