The spectacular 2022 Formula 1 season continues this weekend at the Baku City Circuit in Azerbaijan. Despite the love for this track, the race has only been held four times, so it’s always an exciting and challenging battle for the drivers. Azerbaijan Grand Prix Race Preview and Information
The Azerbaijan Grand Prix will occur for the fifth time this weekend at the Baku City Circuit. In this race’s history, it has had four different winners: Lewis Hamilton, Valterri Bottas, Daniel Ricciardo, and Sergio Perez. This means both leaders in the Championship have not won this race before and will be fighting for the rights to their first Azerbaijan GP trophy.
Baku City Circuit is known for its unusual layout, its beautiful backdrops, and tight turns. Last season there was so much drama at this race due to pit stops, crashes, strategies, and tire punctures. Hopefully, this year’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix will bring just as much fun and excitement.
Azerbaijan Grand Prix Betting Picks and Predictions
George Russell Top Six Finish: -250:
George Russell has had a brilliant first year with Mercedes and has finished in the top five in every race this season so far.
Max Verstappen to Win: +110:
Verstappen has won four of the seven races this year and looks to get his first-ever race win at the Baku City Circuit this weekend.
Sergio Perez to Podium: -120:
‘Checo,’ as many refer to him, is a phenomenal driver coming off a big win in Monaco. He also won last year’s Azerbaijan GP after a Verstappen DNF. It’s all lining up for Checo to make a run at the top three in this race again.
Formula 1 2022 Race Betting Trends
Red Bull Car to win the race: -160
Red Bull has won four races in a row this year, and I expect them to make it five after Baku. Perez and Verstappen are the most equipped drivers in the best cars for this track.
Leclerc’s fastest lap: +150
Leclerc has won three of the seven fastest laps this season. Although all of those were at the beginning of the year, Leclerc has still shown he can put up some of the fastest lap times on track each week.
Sergio Perez to the podium: -120
Perez has finished top three in four of the seven races this year. This includes a second-place and a victory in his last two races. I expect Checo to continue that trend here and finish in third place.
Lando Norris top six finish: -140
Lando Norris and Mclaren are having a year to be forgotten right now. Despite the mediocre performance of the car, Lando has three top-six finishes so far this season. I like the trend but don’t expect it to continue this week.
Charles Leclerc to start on pole: +100
If any trend has value, it’s this one. Charles Leclerc has dominated qualifying sessions all season long and has only allowed others to start in front of him in two of the seven races this year. That means Leclerc has five of the seven pole positions this season, and I expect him to make it six of eight this weekend.
Azerbaijan GP Betting Pick and Prediction
The Azerbaijan GP is looking like it’s going to be one of the best races of the year. The championship standings, both constructors and drivers, are close and intense, and this weekend everyone returns to one of the coolest tracks in Formula 1. This weekend I am expecting Red Bull to continue their dominance on the track.
Right now, the F1 betting lines have Red Bull as a team at -160 to win the race. This means if either Red Bull car wins the race in Baku, a $160 would profit you $100. Red Bull has won four straight races, three with Max Verstappen and one with Sergio Perez. Perez also won this race last year after Max fell out with a tire puncture, so it’s not crazy to expect them to get a win again here this year.
Best Bet: Red Bull to win Azerbaijan GP -160
