The Pirelli Gran Premio De Espana is the sixth race of the 2022 Formula 1 season. Currently the F1 odds have Max Verstappen (+100) as a slight favorite over his opponent from Ferrari, Charles Leclerc (+120). Verstappen and Leclerc are the only two drivers to win a race so far this season with Max having won three and Leclerc having won two of the five races. Check the Spanish Grand Prix Betting Picks below.
Lewis Hamilton has won five straight Spanish Grand Prix’s for Mercedes but it appears the trend will change this year. Lewis is yet to finish in the top five since the first race of the season and is struggling in the 2022 Mercedes car.
Spanish Grand Prix Betting Picks
- Max Verstappen Outright Winner (+100)
Red Bull’s straight line speed will be extremely important on the long straight in Barcelona and I believe that may be the difference maker. Red Bull has shown their car’s speed is its best attribute and will attempt to use it to their advantage in Spain.
- Charles Leclerc Outright Winner (+120)
There is a reason that Max and Leclerc have been the two clear favorites all season; They’re the best drivers in the best cars. Leclerc has improved tremendously over the past few seasons and if he can avoid getting passed he may come out with his first ever Spanish Grand Prix victory.
- Valterri Bottas Top Ten Finish (-200)
Since joining Alfa Romeo, Valterri Bottas has shown he is still one of the best drivers on the grid. Apart from a DNF in Saudi Arabia, Bottas has finished every race in the top ten this season. I like -200 as a good line for Bottas to finish top 10.
Pirelli Gran Premio De Espana Betting Trends
Verstappen to Win (+110): Verstappen has won two straight races and three of the five so far this season. This is the most obvious and heavily betted trend in Formula 1 because it’s a good bet. Max wins a lot of races.
Ferrari to Have Two Podium Drivers (-120): Ferrari has had both of their drivers podium in three of the five races this season. It really comes down to if both drivers can finish the race, and if Carlos Sainz can beat Sergio Perez.
Bottas Top Ten Finish (-200): As I said earlier, Bottas has proven himself this year. He’s shown he doesn’t need a Mercedes car to remain in the top half of the F1 field. Every race that Bottas has finished this season he’s placed ninth or higher. I like Bottas as one of my F1 betting picks at the Spanish Grand Prix.
Sergio Perez Top Six Finish (-300): Sergio Perez has finished all of his races except one this year which was the very first race of the season. He finished fourth, second, second, and fourth in those races respectfully. Although the line is a tad steep, I think it is a lock for ‘Checo’ to finish in the top six.
Kevin Magnussen Top Ten Finish (+150): Despite finishing in the top ten in three of the four races he’s finished this year, Magnussen is still a +150 underdog to finish in the points in Spain. A little sprinkle on Magnussen’s top ten is a good, sneaky bet that the line hasn’t yet moved on.
Spanish Grand Prix Betting Predictions
The most obvious and simple pick in all of F1 is often the right one; The favorite to win the race. Max Verstappen is currently +110 to win the Spanish Grand Prix despite having won two races in a row.
The Red Bull’s straight line speed has been magnificent so far this season and will need to continue to be flawless in Spain if they want a victory.
Max is currently the best driver in Formula 1 and has proved it with his race results. He is only 19 points back of Leclerc for the championship lead and there is no doubt he wants to continue chipping away at that lead. A win for Max here would bring him within at least 12 points of the title lead.
Verstappen will continue to perform at a high level for Red Bull and there’s no reason not to bet him at plus money in a race that only he, Lewis Hamilton, and Sebastian Vettel have won out of the current drivers.
Best Bet: Max Verstappen outright winner (+110)
