Honda Indy 200 Pick Analysis
Sunday’s Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio is a new chapter for IndyCar. The highly anticipated hybrid system will be used in a race for the first time. It’s probably the biggest technological change in the series since the turbocharged V6 engines were first used in 2012.
How it will impact the field this Sunday remains to be seen, although any Honda Indy 200 betting preview has to consider the hybrid system.
The hybrid system basically builds power that is stored in the Energy Storage System. That additional power is available when the drivers want it, similar to the current Push to Pass system IndyCar already has in place. On road and street courses, the hybrid system can be used with Push to Pass, giving drivers an additional 120-plus horsepower.
Even though drivers have logged thousands of miles in testing, Sunday will be the first time the hybrid system has been used in a race. So there’s a bit of the unknown there. The only think for certain is the drivers are looking forward to it. “It’s an exciting time for the series to take that step toward the future,” said Arrow McLaren driver Alexander Rossi. “It’s something that’s important to all of us and the partners involved.”
Alex Palou is a big favorite in the IndyCar betting odds for the race. That makes sense, as he’s leading the season points standings. The odds on Palou also make it difficult to bet him. One driver who looks promising is Scott Dixon at +900.
Not only does Dixon have more wins at Mid-Ohio than any other driver, he and strategist Mike Hull are the best tacticians in the game. If anybody can quickly figure out the new hybrid system, it’s them.

Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio Betting Analysis
The Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio will forever be known as the debut race for the hybrid system. That allows IndyCars the opportunity to produce more than 800 horsepower for the first time in two decades with the push of a button. Whoever uses the hybrid technology the best will have an advantage over the other drivers.
The Honda Indy 200 betting preview shows Scott McLaughlin has led the most laps in series races this season. However, this is a course where Dixon has enjoyed a lot of success. His race craft could be the difference between winning this race or not. There are few drivers in the series who ever are going to out-think Dixon and his ability to adjust to conditions make him worth a stab at +900 odds for your IndyCar predictions today.

Honda Indy 200 Previous Winners and Betting Trends
Palou won this race last year as the favorite after Pato O’Ward failed to deliver as the 2022 favorite. Palou led 48 of the 80 laps and won by 5.0242 seconds in the 2023 race. The track was repaved since last year’s race.
While certain drivers typically race better over the track than others, there have been 10 different winners in the last 10 years. Will Power leads all drivers with five pole positions at Mid-Ohio. Colton Herta, who won here in 2020, was on the pole for last year’s race.
Dixon finished second to Palou last year and the Honda Indy 200 betting preview believes he can turn the tables on the series leader.
Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio Betting Picks
Take Scott Dixon at +900 to win the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio. Dixon typically runs well over the course and is one of the smartest IndyCar drivers. With the hybrid system debuting in the race, Dixon could gain a slight edge over the rest of the field.
