This weekend the Gran Premio D’Italia is returning to the MotoGP championship. The big sweeping corners in Italy favor the Yamaha style, and Fabio Quartararo could repeat his victory from last year. In addition, Suzuki is looking to rebound after a tough ending to the race in Le Mans.
Aleix Espargaro has placed third in three races in a row and is looking to break that streak by winning this race in Italy. Jack Miller has finished second and fifth in his last two races and is still looking for first win of the season after a big podium in France.
Gran Premio D’Italia Betting Picks
Fabio Quarteraro +150
Fabio Quartararo is last year’s Italian GP winner and has shown this year that he is dominant force in the sport. This season, he has three top-two finishes and placed second and fourth in the last two races. He’s also led the second-most laps out of anyone in the field.
The big sweeping corners of the Italian GP provide great structure for the Yamaha bike and favor its abilities. Fabio could be looking at back-to-back victories in Italy, and the MotoGP betting odds have him as a +150 favorite against the field.
Francesco Bagnaia +225
Francesco Bagnaia finished second in last season’s MotoGP championship, only behind Fabio Quartararo. This season he’s been less consistent but recently has strung together four straight top ten finishes, including a race win in Spain two weeks ago.
This week he’ll have to bounce back after crashing in France. The Ducati rider will have plenty of space and fast, long turns in Italy to secure another victory.
Enea Bastianini +300
Bastianini, unlike the other two drivers above, did not finish in the top two of last season’s championship. Instead, the Italian finished 11th and has worked back tremendously this season so far. Bastiannini has the most wins, including last week’s race in France.
Enea will have to work hard to calm his nerves at his home track in Italy. The Italian racer crashed out of the 2021 Italian Moto GP Grand Prix and hopes to redeem himself with a big performance this weekend.
Gran Premio D’Italia Betting Trends
- Bagnaia leads laps: right now, Francesco Bagnaia leads all drivers in laps led with 42 laps, the next best being Quartararo with 22. Bagnaia to lead a lap in this race is a great Moto GP bet if you can find a line for it.
- Bastianini to win: Enea Bastianini is the only driver to win more than one race this season. If he can win at his home track after crashing last week, he’ll be settled into one of the top positions in the championship. With the Moto GP betting line at +300, I like Bastianini to win as a bet.
- Miguel Oliveira to podium: Miguel Oliveira secured second place at last year’s Gran Premio D’Italia and showed he knows how to race on that track. This season he’s won one race and has led 17 laps. I like Oliveira to podium in this race.
- Aleix Espargaro to finish in third: Espargaro has finished in third place three races in a row. In five out of the seven races this year, he’s finished in the top four, and he hasn’t finished below third in almost two months.
- Jorge Martin will crash: In seven races this year, Jorge Martin has only finished two of them. In fact, three races in a row, Martin has not finished. I never wish anything bad on anybody, and I hope Martin has a great race, but the trend is clear. Martin is prone to crashing recently, and it may be mental.
Gran Premio D’Italia Betting Predictions
The MotoGP Gran Premio D’Italia is going to be a fun one. After the first few races, many drivers have started to emerge, and anyone could win this race. That being said, I expect Fabio Quartararo to repeat his victory from last year’s race at Mugello.
Quartararo and his Yamaha are favored at this track because they’re built for this track. Yamaha’s bike will be fantastic on the long, broad turns in Italy and Quartararo knows how to handle this track due to his victory here last season. MotoGP betting picks for the MotoGP Gran Premio D’Italia is Fabio Quartararo to win at +150.
Best Bet: Fabio Quartararo to win +150
