Grant Park 165 Pick Analysis
The second race over the streets of Chicago is slated for Sunday. Last year’s Grant Park 220, the first-ever NASCAR street race, was a huge hit with racing fans. It made sense to bring the race back. This year’s race has been shortened to 75 laps and 165 miles. Australian Shane van Gisbergen pulled off an upset at +5000 last year and is favored this year. The Grant Park 165 betting preview shows his teammate AJ Almendinger, is also going off at fairly low odds of +1200.
There are just five drivers who are less than +1000, so there are plenty of questions entering the race. The course obviously fits van Gisbergen, but it’s a question of if he deserves to be favored over Kyle Larson. You can make a case for either driver, although only one is going to win.
The NASCAR betting strategies on this race are going to be a little different than some other races. There is probably a better chance of a longshot coming through due to the different nature of the course. It’s not quite a road course, although those drivers should do well in Chicago. One of those drivers is Joey Hand, who competes in the Mustang GT in the IMSA Weather Tech SportsCar Championship but has done some NASCAR races over the years. An outright win for Hand is probably asking for too much. He’s +8000 for a reason, but a top-10 finish isn’t out of the question. The odds there are +450, which is extremely fair. He’ll be in a Ford once again for RFK Racing and is worth a stab to finish in the top 10.

Grant Park 165 Betting Analysis
The Grant Park 165 betting preview shows a fairly wide-open race that is a bit more unpredictable. The track is different than what most drivers are used to competing on, so those who race over a wide variety of tracks may have a slight edge. The racing should be close throughout and several drivers could have strong results.
Rather than try to pick the winner of the race, the best types of wagers in this event could either be prop wagers or betting on drivers to place in the top five or the top 10 at decent odds. That’s the purpose behind backing Hand at +450 to finish in the top 10. He has raced all over the world in sportscars and Chicago is a track where he should feel at home. Hand doesn’t need to win to get a decent payout, he just needs to keep his nose clean and stay out of trouble. If he can do that, your NASCAR prediction today says he can finish in the top 10 of the race.

Grant Park 165 Previous Winners and Betting Trends
This is the first year the race has been run at 165 miles and only the second race over the streets of Chicago, so there isn’t a whole lot of history to go on. Shane Van Gisbergen won last year’s Grant Park 220 at +5000 odds. He took the lead in the last eight laps and held on for the victory in his NASCAR Cup Series debut. He’s the favorite this year at +500.
The top five finishers last year were all Chevrolets. That doesn’t mean we’ll see similar results this year, but it is worth paying attention to.
Grant Park 165 Betting Picks
Bet Joey Hand to finish in the top 10 at NASCAR odds of +450. The Grant Park 165 betting preview views Hand as a versatile driver who should handle the street course better than some NASCAR regulars. He has the potential to pop up and surprise.
