Red Bull compromised its ride height setup and sacrificed some of its pace advantage, while World Champion Max Verstappen nursed brake issues to win the United States Grand Prix after cruising to an easy Sprint race the day before.
F1 Mexico City Grand PrixPicks

F1 Pick: Mexico City Grand Prix predictions have Max Verstappen winning his fifth career race in Mexico.
While Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc finished second and sixth, respectively, both were disqualified post-race for technical infringements, promoting Lando Norris, Carlos Sainz, Sergio Pérez, George Russell, and Alpine’s Pierre Gasly into the top six.
Like much of the F1 season, our Mexico City Grand Prix predictions heavily feature Max Verstappen, but our focus falls on Sergio Pérez and the three-team, six-driver battle for top-six finishes.

Verstappen to Win, but What about Checo?
First, the obvious: take Max and Red Bull to win again.
The pressure in Mexico City is entirely on Sergio Pérez’s shoulders. Checo has four races to turn his season around and silence the chatter around Red Bull’s 2024 second seat. Perez’s swoon of qualifying performances and recovery drives has resulted in four consecutive finishes outside of the podium, finishing fifth or lower on the road, his last podium being second place at Monza.
Checo needs to put his RB-19 on the podium with Max for a third consecutive year in Mexico City, with the combination of car and home crowd helping Checo finish on the podium on merit.

McLaren? Mercedes? Ferrari?
The Formula 1 standings behind Red Bull have gotten tighter since McLaren’s mid-season improvement helped usurp Aston Martin for fourth in the Championship. But which of the six drivers will take the non-Red Bull spots in the top six?
Tire wear might not be an issue, but we’re not taking chances with Ferrari’s and its tire wear issues, only taking Leclerc for pole position and a top-six finish.
Mercedes upgrades worked excellently at CoTA, but Hamilton’s DNF and Red Bull’s intentional pace limitation overshadowed their progress. Hamilton has been the better of Mercedes’ drivers and should finish in the top six.
McLaren has four consecutive podium finishes from Lando Norris, while a collision-induced retirement at CoTA prevented Oscar Piastri from a third consecutive top-six finish.
