The NASCAR Truck Series returns to the North Wilkesboro Speedway in North Carolina for the first time since 1996 for the Tyson 250. There have been five winners in the season’s nine events as drivers and teams prepare for the race on Saturday.
Only two NASCAR Truck Series races have been held here, with Cup Series driver Mark Martin the last one to take the checkered flag in 1996.
Drivers will try to complete 250 laps on the 0.625-mile oval for a total distance of 150.25 miles as they try to distance themselves and the rest of the field crowded at the top of the Truck Series standings. Currently, only 22 points separate the top nine drivers in the standings.

Ready, Set, Go! Tyson 250 Betting Preview
Kyle Larson
Larson is currently ninth in the NASCAR Cup Series standings with two victories under his belt this season. Alex Bowman was ready to make his second NASCAR Truck Series start on Saturday but suffered fractured vertebrae in a sprint car crash a few weeks ago. Larson has been set to replace him in this race, where he’s now the Tyson 250 betting favorite to win this weekend.
In addition to his two wins in the Cup Series, Larson has five top-ten finishes and ranks fourth in the playoff standings, just one point behind Christopher Bell.
William Byron
Byron will also make his first season start in the Truck Series at Wilkesboro. He’s fifth in the Cup Series standings and leads all drivers in wins with three.
He’s the leader in the playoff standings by one point over Ross Chastain and is coming off a big win last weekend at Darlington. He’ll also be near the top of the NASCAR Truck Series odds for Saturday’s race.
Christopher Bell
Bell is another top NASCAR Cup Series driver to add his name to the list of entrants for the Tyson 250. He has one win, five top-fives, and eight top-ten finishes this season and is second in the Cup Series standings with 402 points. He’s also just seven points behind Byron in the playoff standings and is one of the leading Tyson 250 betting picks to take the win.
Zane Smith
Smith is the top full-time Truck Series driver among the NASCAR Truck Series picks for this weekend’s race. He’s the leader of the NASCAR Truck Series standings and the playoff standings with two wins and five top-fives in nine season starts.
After two straight third-place finishes, he finished a disappointing 22nd last week at Darlington. However, he’s still one of the favorites to get his third-season victory.
Ty Majeski
Although he’s yet to win on the Truck Series this season, Majeski has been one of the most consistent drivers in 2023, with five top-five and six top-ten finishes in nine starts. He’s currently nine points behind Smith in the standings and fourth in the playoff standings. After finishing in the top six in the season’s first seven races, he’s finished 25th or lower in the last two races after starting in ninth position.
However, NASCAR Truck Series odds are counting on Majeski to come out of his recent slump and contend for his first victory of 2023 at Wilkesboro.
Who Will Win the Tyson 250?
The field in this year’s Tyson 250 is loaded with stars from the Cup Series and Truck Series. While Larson is coming in as a replacement in the number seven truck for Spire Motorsports, he’s won three poles and has come back from as far as 19th on the grid to take victories in 2023.
- 2021 NASCAR Cup Series Champion, Kyle Larson, should get his first Truck Series win since 2016 at Wilkesboro on Saturday.
