Xfinity Series: Pit Boss 250 Betting Analysis
The 2021 Pit Boss 250 produced an exciting race. Allmendinger won Stage 1, Haley took Stage 2, and Busch won the race. The good news is that Busch will not be in the Xfinity Series this season, but he will compete in the Cup Series and Truck Series.
Still, we have three Cup Series regulars in the field, including Cole Custer in car no.07, Bubba Wallace in no.18, and Ross Chastain, who will join the race in his no.92 car. We must also mention Miguel Paludo, who will make his season debut in the no.88 car.
According to the latest NASCAR betting odds, Custer enters the race as the sixth-favorite at +1400, while Wallace and Chastain share the tag as the seventh-favorites, priced at +1800.
That isn’t too surprising, even though sports betting guides might tell you that NASCAR Cup Series drivers usually do well in Xfinity. That’s true, but it does make a lot of sense to see the trio priced well behind other strong contenders in the field.
Xfinity Series: Pit Boss 250 Betting Preview
Over his last 10 road course races, A.J. Allmendinger has a 5.3 average finish, with three wins, so it makes sense to see him priced as the main favorite to win the 2022 Pit Boss. But when we talk solid numbers, we can’t forget to mention a few more names.
Ty Gibbs has an average career finish on intermediate tracks of 5.7 and has a 28% winning percentage, which is seriously impressive. He also won two Xfinity races this season already (Las Vegas and Atlanta)) and has top-15 finishes (+1 top-10) across the remaining three.
With those numbers, it’s hard to argue with the bookies, who have Ty Gibbs priced as the second favorite to win the Pit Boss 250, at +300.
Noah Gragson, who heads to Texas as a +1200 underdog, has a 6.8 average finish this season, with four top-3 finishes across the opening four races, which includes two runners-up in California and Las Vegas and a victory in Phoenix.
Although he doesn’t have as impressive numbers as the rest of the field, we would also keep an eye on Miguel Paludo. Priced at around +2000 on most bookies Paludo might be worth a shot. As a former Truck Series driver, Paludo has proven himself as an excellent road course driver and has done well at Daytona, where he placed seventh.
Moreover, he showed up at the start of the 2021 season at Mid-Ohio, when he spent 29 laps in the top-15; however, he ended the race in 27th. Still, we don’t believe that this number truly shows how good Paludo can be on road tracks.
Xfinity Series: Pit Boss 250 Betting Prediction
Priced at +200, Allmendinger is a clear favorite to win Pit Boss 250, and that’s completely fair. He is phenomenal on road tracks, and his record speaks for itself. He was one of the top road course drivers in the Cup Series with six wins from 18 starts, on top of 15 top-5s, and 15 top-10s.
Moreover, he has a 7.1 average finish and 267 laps led, and with figures like that, it’s fair to say that Allmendinger is close to unstoppable on road courses. Last year he finished second at COTA, albeit only behind Kyle Busch. We must also note that Allmendinger has yet to finish worse than ninth this season, albeit he has yet to win a race.
When making your NASCAR picks, you can’t go wrong with Allmendinger, but we’re leaning more towards Ty Gibbs for this one. He is priced at slightly better odds and has shown more so far this season.
That’s not to say that we believe he is much better than Allmendinger, but rather that the two are just as capable of winning this weekend. And by that logic, it’s hard to pass on Ty Gibbs at +300 to win his third race of the 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series season.
Prediction: Ty Gibbs to win
