There is plenty of optimism surrounding them, and it does appear that Payton rejoining the starting lineup is the perfect move by Steve Kerr. They played well last postseason when he started, too.

LA has some identity crisis on their hands at the moment. The rotation has shrunk to just eight, with Dennis Schroder, Lonnie Walker IV, and Rui Hachimura coming in off the pine. None of them were here last year, but all three are making a major impact. With Jarred Vanderbilt failing to be a scorer or offensive threat, he is becoming the odd man out. He starts each half but does not stay in for long.
