The 2022-23 NBA season has been electric. The Brooklyn Nets standings are still decent, currently ranked third in the Atlantic Division with a 31-19 record. The Nets have been able to tread water with Kevin Durant out of the lineup.
After his early-season suspension, Kyrie Irving has come back and played incredibly well. As for the Boston Celtics, well, they haven’t done anything but win this season, entering Wednesday first in the Atlantic Division with a 36-15 record. This promises to be an electric battle, so read on for our Nets vs Celtics betting preview and picks.

Brooklyn Nets vs. Boston Celtics Betting Analysis
Time to take a look at some Boston Celtics stats and our Nets vs Celtics betting preview will give all the details.
NBA odds today are interesting, with the spread listed at eight points, but the final score may well be closer than that.
NBA team stats for the Nets might not be great, but their top two players have been just that for them. Kyrie and Nicolas Claxton have been stuffing the stat sheet in every way.
The team is No. 6 in scoring defense, a stat that sounds surprising when you first hear it. They play hard and knock down a lot of threes. Time to find out if it’s sustainable against an elite team.
Boston has dropped their last five games ATS and is 2-3 overall in this stretch. The over has hit in but two of their last five contests. Brooklyn, meanwhile, is 4-1 ATS in their last five and 3-2 overall.
The over has gone in three of five overall for Brooklyn, showing they can win even on days when their defense isn’t up to the challenge. Holding off the LA Lakers in a high-scoring affair on their home floor was a big one. Sure, Anthony Davis and LeBron James didn’t play, but it’s still a huge win to score.
NBA picks today might suggest that the team favored by such a heavy margin won’t be able to cover. Especially coming in, having been dealing with a tough stretch. But, if they play to the best of their ability, a victory should be able to await them.
Brooklyn Nets
A look at the NBA player stats may make some folks less impressed with what the Nets have been doing this season. Some folks, but not all of them.
Kyrie Irving will start in the All-Star game after averaging 27-5-5 through his first 39 appearances. Not only that, but the man is hitting nearly 49% of his shots.
While Kevin Durant has been out, he’s been doing all he can to keep the team afloat.
In his first year as a full-time starter, 23-year-old Nic Claxton has been going insane. He’s averaged 13 points, nine rebounds, and almost three blocks per contest.
Claxton played in all but three games and has proven to be an elite presence around the rim. He has garnered much attention in the Defensive Player of the Year voting.
They have Yuta Watanabe hitting 49% of his threes and Seth Curry shooting at 43% of his attempts. Royce O’Neale and Joe Harris have also shot it well. With so many perimeter options, they can hang with anybody.
Let’s not sleep on the Nets any longer. They’re here, and they’re ready.
Boston Celtics
Boston has gotten strong play from Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, going as they do. NBA player stats for those two are as solid as they are for anyone else in the division. JT is averaging 31-9-4, while Jaylen Brown is posting 27-7-3 a night while making 49% of his shots.
These two players have gone crazy this year, while Al Horford has been able to stay healthy to hold it down in the middle while Robert Williams III recovered from injury.
It’s unclear if they will add another player at the deadline, but whether they do or not, they are in a good position to win the conference for a second consecutive season.
Boston will still be without Marcus Smart in this one, leaving Malcolm Brogdon and Derrick White to step up and fill the void. There may be some Payton Pritchard minutes, but with his recent comments about wanting a larger role in the future, he may be traded within the next week or so.
The Milwaukee Bucks, Brooklyn Nets, Philadelphia 76ers, and/or Miami Heat will have a chance to stop them. But can they hang for a whole series? That will be the question for the mighty C’s at the end of the day.
Brooklyn Nets vs. Boston Celtics Betting Preview
Wednesday night’s matchup, the first of the NBA season, sees an eight-point spread. Nets vs Celtics betting is going to happen early and often. Boston is listed at -8, giving the Nets a rare recent position of being underdogs.
The Over/Under is sitting at 226.5 total points, which is a tempting number. Brooklyn’s defense has not been perfect, but Boston’s has. Can the offenses come to show today?
Both teams have played under the bright lights all season long, so let’s find out who is in a better position to take the win Wednesday night.
Brooklyn Nets vs. Boston Celtics Betting Prediction
A Nets vs Celtics betting prediction has to be made. Brace yourself because here it comes. The recent struggles by Boston to perform make this one pretty easy to pick.
Brooklyn has been playing better basketball recently and has been looking for any excuse they can to take out the big dogs.
Kyrie Irving will not be contained, and they can’t guard every perimeter shooter. Sure, Horford will be able to somewhat neutralize the size and ability of Nicolas Claxton, but not to the fullest extent. So, with that in mind, make sure to take Nets +8.
As for the over/under, both teams have their moments on defense but can tend to collapse. With so many star players on the floor, it will be hard to keep track of everyone. Some players will be additionally frustrated, so as a result, the over is going to hit.
Over 226.5. Book it.
So, to recap our NBA picks today: Nets +8, over 226.5.
