Now that the 2023-2024 NBA season schedule has come to a close, it’s time to start looking ahead at the guys who are going to be free agents. The Boston Celtics and Dallas Mavericks were the top two NBA teams at the end of the season, will they be involved with free agency? Before the NBA computer picks start, let’s take a look at the Future NBA Free Agency Watch as the off-season begins! Keep reading for more 2024 NBA Future Free Agency Watch.
Top Names to Watch
LeBron James
The 39-year-old is almost for sure going to be paying attention to the NBA Draft to see if his son Bronny is drafted anywhere. James has been in the league 21 years, and can basically go to any team looking to add. He scored nearly 26 points per game last season, and of course is a surefire Hall of Famer still worth the price of admission. The LeBron watch is alive and well this offseason.
Kyle Lowry
Lowry, now 38 years old, has been in the league since age 20. His play has declined, and as an unrestricted free agent, it will be interesting to see if he has much interest from the field. Lowry scored just 8.1 points per game, and his minutes have dwindled. A good veteran leader, but that’s about it at this point.
Tyrese Maxey
As a restricted free agent, there is no concern that he will not be back with the Philadelphia 76ers. Maxey has been huge at the guard position, especially when it comes to scoring the basketball. In his fourth season in the league, he scored nearly 26 points per game in the NBA player stats. He and Joel Embiid, with some pieces, can still be a scary team in the Eastern Conference.
DeMar DeRozan
The 34-year-old is an unrestricted free agent. He has had a great 15-year career so far, with time in San Antonio and Chicago. DeRozan scored 24 points per game last season. The Bulls may be looking for a new direction, as they look to get younger and rebuild a bit from a team that has not worked under Billy Donovan.
Paul George
The 34-year-old just finished his 14th season in the league. George scored 22.6 points per game. He is listed as an unrestricted free agent but has the player option. It is expected that George will take that option and remain with the Los Angeles Clippers.
Pascal Siakam
The 30-year-old came over from Toronto to Indiana and was really good for the Pacers. Siakam and Indiana went to the Eastern Conference Finals. He is an unrestricted free agent, but the 8-year veteran, who scored more than 21 points per game last season, is reportedly signing with the Pacers.
Miles Bridges
The 26-year-old has been in the league for five seasons and is now ready to get paid. He scored 21 points per game with the Hornets a season ago. He would fill a nice forward void for a potential playoff team. Bridges is the youngest of the top 10 scorers in free agency this offseason.
D’Angelo Russell
The 28-year-old guard scored 18 points per game last season. He has a player option, much like his teammate LeBron James. Russell is a solid shooter, but the question still remains – is he a winning playoff-type guard?
Klay Thompson
The 34-year-old sharpshooter will likely have a new landing place for the first time in his 11-year career. Thompson still scored nearly 18 points per game, despite missing time and being on the NBA injury report for portions of the season. The separation of him and Steph Curry is something NBA fans thought they might never see.
Tobias Harris
The 76ers are reportedly going to let Harris go elsewhere. The 31-year-old forward scored 17.2 points per game, and ripped down 6.5 rebounds per game. The 76ers have not found a recipe that works quite yet, so replacing him with something different could be a start. He will sign and make a good chunk of change somewhere this offseason.
Immanuel Quickley
Quickley is just 25 years old and played four seasons in the league. He is emerging as a great scorer and ballhandler. The Raptors have the first opportunity to bring him back, but there are questions about their interests.
